The Airbus-built @CopernicusEU Sentinel-6B satellite is now fully operational and will ensure the continuity of global sea-level records started over 30 years ago.
Why does this matter?
Because these measurements are vital for understanding long-term climate change, improving marine weather forecasts, safeguarding our oceans and protecting coastal communities around the world.
Operated by @EUMETSAT on behalf of the @EU_Commission, this satellite was developed in partnership with @ESA, @NASA, @NOAA and @CNES.
#Copernicus Sentinel-6B enters operational service today! 🛰️
Ensuring that a global sea level record begun over 30 years ago will continue into the 2030s, it will help:
🌊 Track sea-level rise
🌊 Predict storm & hurricanes
🌊 Protect coastal communities

Airbus to build 2️⃣ additional Galileo G2 satellites 🧭🛰️
Airbus Defence and Space has been contracted by the European Space Agency @esa on behalf of the EU agency for Space Programme @EU4Space to build two additional Galileo Second Generation (G2) satellites.
Building on the initial batch of six satellites, this order adds two more units to the Galileo Second Generation constellation, expanding a fleet designed to bring augmented navigation precision, fully digital reconfigurable payloads, and advanced anti-jamming capabilities to Europe.

What can nine hours in Earth’s shadow teach #Juice about how to explore #Jupiter? A lot! 🌑
Teams got to:
🔋 Test the spacecraft’s batteries
🔬 Do science in the dark
📷 Exercise autonomous navigation
All while Earth helped steer Juice towards Jupiter.

🔴 Before @esa's Rosalind Franklin rover can explore Mars, it must first drive off its lander.
🪨 We might touch down on a slope or on top of a rock, and we will only have one chance to get it right.
Once the rover leaves the landing platform, there is no way back.

Did you know that Airbus is a key player in Europe’s space independence?
During this #WorldSpaceWeek, we are highlighting the technologies that connect us to space and improve our lives on Earth 🌍💫
One of our greatest achievements? Our contribution to the Ariane 6 launcher, that provides reliable and autonomous space transport solutions for Europe 🚀

What does space have to do with your morning coffee? ☕🛰️
Satellites like our Pléiades Neo take the pulse of our planet every single day. They monitor climate patterns, track natural resources, and help farmers grow the food we rely on.
Our Starling service for example helps coffee industries to manage their production.
Space isn't just about exploring the unknown, it's about protecting our home. 🌍

Is there evidence of ancient life on Mars? 🌌
To answer one of humanity's biggest questions, we must test for the extreme.
We are in the Tabernas desert in Spain with @esa conducting field trials for the Rosalind Franklin #ExoMars rover, built by #Airbus.
The objective: train the scientists and mission operators while validating that the prototype rover executes every command with precision.🎯🔴

From a 2D satellite image … to a 3D world!🌍🛰️
How do we reconstruct the Earth in 3D using satellite data? 🤔
It starts with satellite photogrammetry. 📸
Using our Pléiades Neo satellite imagery, we capture the same area from multiple angles during a single overpass. By measuring parallax, the apparent shift of buildings, trees and terrain between images, we can calculate their depth and height.
The journey from satellite to 3D mesh:
1️⃣ Multi-stereo satellite imagery
2️⃣ Dense 3D point cloud (X, Y, Z)
3️⃣ Triangular surface mesh
4️⃣ Satellite imagery projected onto the model
The result? Detailed, realistic 3D environments ready to support digital twins and geospatial applications. 🚀
And with 3D-Ready Tasking, the multi-stereo imagery needed for 3D projects can now be ordered directly through the Airbus OneTasking service.
Ready to turn satellite imagery into 3D?
