One of my favorite Jev patterns is "line-by-line search", where you put an entire document in state, and ask a question for each line (or paragraph). This is super useful when you want to find the most relevant line for a query.
Use nouls when you expect one dominate answer, use scores when you want to highlight lines by overall relevance. The former is good for answering a specific question while the latter is good for finding all relevant passages.
If you want to try this in your own project, point your agent (or your own eyeballs, if you're old fashioned like that) at this cookbook! docs.typesafe.ai/cookbooks/s…
NetworkChuck built his own version of my Intelliprompter and shows it off in this video!
This was such a fun conversation. Thanks for the great 0-1 explainer of what Jev is and how to use it, @NetworkChuck!

Thanks to @allietheicon and @CompleteSkeptic for the help with this video!!
@typesafeai jev is pretty sick.
Are you in SF? Do you want to chat with yours truly about Jev? Join me and LangChain on November 5th for an evening all about adding a little judgment to your agentic workflows
Join LangChain + @typesafeAI on November 5th for an evening of talks on building with decision models and using them to evaluate agents.
Hear from @sydneyrunkle, Seán Roche, and @allietheicon.

We do AI video but I HATE this.
@Kurz_Gesagt was never about the visuals. I'm pretty sure most of that 1,200 hours goes to research and writing. The fact that thousands are now going to publish these kind of slop videos with a single Claude prompt will only make people click away from gems like Kurzgesagt because they will think it's AI too.
Same has happened to channels like Fern and @RealEngYT.
I'm also surprised that people I respect like @DeryaTR_ are cheering for it.
Kurzgesagt has 25M subs. Millions of views on EVERY single video 🤯
nobody copies them for a reason: one video takes 1,200 hours and a studio of 50+ animators.
we rebuilt their format with Opus 5.5 + @HyperFrames_ Studio. 100% code.
a full 11-minute explainer. made in ~2 hours. under $50.
want the template? we’re open-sourcing it for free 👇
This is siiiiiiick
Pre-launch I tried to build something like this but never got it to work or look half as good as this
It's SUCH a useful learning tool to see how Jev primitives are composed together in a system
Currently working on adding support for more complex Jev flows to the Jev Devtools 👀
This includes an API under jev-devtools/flows to connect Jev calls together (with meta data) which allows the DevTools to map out the diagrams for the flows to make it all easier to visualize.
All still very WIP. Not even sure where this is going anymore 🫠
And thanks @allietheicon for the idea! I hope this is kinda what you ment haha
Really great roundup of open-source Jev projects in the voice-interface space!
Y'all interested in my tweets yesterday about the precog engine I'm building should check this out. Almost all of the ideas I'm integrating in to Spectra are also in the djr3x_voice project!
Replying to @allietheicon @nayeemrahman_
Have you tried any of our Deepgram models yet? Flux STT/TTS are realtime voice models.
I just posted an article that shared some interesting Deepgram + Jev uses. deepgram.com/learn/audio-dec…
The shit these robots do when I’m just like “my phone is on the tailnet, can’t you push the update to me that way?”
I'll be doing a bigger writeup of how I've implemented this, don't worry! But a super short version is the system judges after each word, and Jev has to approve twice in a row because of this case:
"Turn on my dresser lamp..." Jev gets ready
"Turn on my dresser lamp to..." Jev says wait hold up
"Turn on my dresser lamp to 50%..." Jev gets ready
"Turn on my dresser lamp to 50% and..." Jev says EXECUTE
and then the dresser lamp changes while I am finishing saying the other things I want to happen. It's particularly magical to have devices change state one by one as I name them.
As someone who built her first voice-to-control-lights system TWENTY THREE YEARS AGO with a duct-taped microphone on the ceiling that communicated to X-10 lightswitches, Jev allowing me to do something I've never seen before in voice interfaces is such a dream moment.
And on the topic of custom agent harnesses, this writeup of how @sanity_io are using Jev to route to purpose-specific, narrowly-scoped agents is excellent!
Give it a read!
It has been interesting to see all the applications of @typesafeai's Jev at @sanity_io.
Like our new internal agent harness which allows anyone in the company to quickly spin up a bespoke agent. Jev is used for the router and has worked pretty well so far!
We (@rostimelk, @even, and I) wrote up an in-depth post about how it's built so you can do it too.

My favorite Jev use in this system is a "precog engine", where Jev judges the STT as it streams in word by word, warms up intent paths that are determined to be likely, and sometimes fully taking action before I've even finished speaking (depending on risk, reversibility, etc)
I’m on the custom personal agent train for sure, but my particular obsession is extremely responsive and expressive voice interactions. Fully custom STT and TTS pipeline
Jev is enabling so much of it, routing intents to super narrow handler paths that respond lightning fast
Have you ever read a skill with your own eyes that you installed from a vendor? Not like, when you want to pick it apart and make your own, but just using an official skill like Cloudflare's or something
14%Yes all the time
41%Like, once or twice
45%lol never

This week it's "update all your shit to what was released 5 minutes ago because the 0-day apocalypse is here"
I wonder what next week will be

so are you a queue-by-default or a steer-by-default in the agent kinda person?
