I am heartbroken to learn that a City of Toronto Traffic Agent was killed after being struck by a truck while on duty. Traffic agents do some of the most demanding work in our city. They work in live traffic, in all weather conditions, to keep people moving and protect pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. Every shift, they help us get where we’re going safely. We are deeply thankful for that service, and this loss is a painful reminder of the risks they take on our behalf. My thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues as they grieve this unimaginable loss. The entire city stands with them.` Police are investigating and they have my full support as they work to understand exactly what happened.

In our dense, downtown communities, our parks are our backyards and our community spaces are our gathering places. I've worked hard to make them better and we've made real progress. There is more work ahead. Read my full plan at ausma.ca/plan.

Toronto’s water belongs to the people of Toronto. New polling shows 60% of Torontonians are concerned about the potential privatization of Toronto Water. Our members work around the clock to deliver safe, clean drinking water to our city. That responsibility should never be put at risk. Public water. Public accountability. Public trust. Toronto’s water is not for sale. 💧 #KeepTorontoWaterPublic #CUPE416 #Toronto @cupenat @cupelocal79

No one should be sleeping in parks, ravines or outside in a province as wealthy as ours. I want to talk about something that has worked. Here's the story of lasting results in Clarence Square Park, that's been replicated across parks in our downtown.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, and remember the Indigenous children who never returned home. 🧡 Toronto’s waterfront is situated on the traditional territory of many Indigenous nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. It remains home to diverse Indigenous communities today. Reconciliation calls for ongoing reflection, learning and action. We encourage our waterfront community to listen to Indigenous voices, learn about the lasting impacts of the residential school system and support Indigenous-led initiatives, today and throughout the year. 🧡
