The lakhs of people who took part in today’s INDIA Bloc Rally are a testament to the widespread anger against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, which has resulted in Vote Chori, and the repression of protests using the entire state machinery along with Sangh Parivar goons. It is heartening to see that the rally received support from across the board, including student and youth organisations, civil society groups and prominent personalities, showing that the movement has expanded beyond the INDIA Bloc, as the Left parties had called for.
Congratulations to all those who participated in the rally. You have given a stern warning to Modi and Amit Shah that their fascistic tactics will no longer work. You have made it loud and clear that usurping democratic institutions using stooges like Gyanesh Kumar will not go unpunished.
Barricades will fall when the people rise up. The movement to protect voting rights and save our democracy will only grow stronger from here.

CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby, along with other senior party leaders and student and youth leaders, visited Ramlila Maidan today to inspect the arrangements for the INDIA Bloc rally on 1 November, demanding the ouster of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Lok Sabha MP K Radhakrishnan wrote to Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on 29 October, demanding urgent intervention against the reduction of reserved seats for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) PhD admissions for 2026–27.
Against the mandated reservation, JNU has allocated only 38 of the required 53 seats for ST candidates, 103 of 107 for SC candidates, and just 17 of the required 36 seats for PwBD candidates.
Comrade Radhakrishnan asserted that such discriminatory practices systematically deprive students from marginalised backgrounds of higher academic opportunities and constitute a clear violation of social justice and equity. He strongly urged the Union Education Minister to direct the JNU administration to withdraw the flawed prospectus, rectify the seat matrix and fully restore the constitutional reservation quotas without delay.
