We're hiring Application Scientists 🧪
At CuspAI, we're using AI to discover the materials the world needs, for energy, clean water, the future of compute and carbon capture.
Our Scientific Discovery teams are growing, and we're looking for Application Scientists to join us in Electronics, Energy and Environment.
You'll own the science on partner projects from scoping to results, working with ML researchers, platform engineers and lab teams, and translating between experiment, simulation and machine learning.
We're especially interested in hands-on experience in:
🔷 Semiconductors, thin films and materials for electronics
🔷 Catalysis, batteries and photovoltaics
🔷 Porous materials, formulations, water treatment and separation
🔷 Lab automation, cheminformatics and optimisation
Industry experience is a big plus. You don't need to cover a whole pillar: real depth in one area is what counts.

Two years ago materials barely existed in the context of AI. This week:
Met with @satyanadella in London. Spoke at @nvidia GTC in Berlin to a packed room for a AI for materials panel.
AI itself, is now limited by physical things. Power, cooling, packaging, memory. All materials problems, and the ones we’re working on at @cusp_ai .
CuspAI co-founder & CEO Chad Edwards has been named on this year’s TIME100 AI list.
Discovering materials to power clean energy & next-gen compute takes bold leadership, congrats @ac_edwards_1!
If these hard challenges sound like your thing, we’re hiring…

"The number of possible molecules the universe could have made is unimaginably large... now we can imagine these new materials and actually make them in machines."
Our co-founder @wellingmax sat down with @johnthornhillft to discuss how CuspAI uses AI to create new materials to tackle climate change, the energy transition and challenges in the semiconductor industry: ft.com/content/5c2ae092-14af…
A massive thank you to our team, our partners, and our visionary investors - both existing and new, including @kleinerperkins @NEA and more.

In a few hours I’ll be landing in Seoul for #ICML2026 🇰🇷 !! Alongside colleagues from @cusp_ai , I’ll be around all week (6-11 July) and would love to exchange ideas about:
→ AI co-scientists navigating chemical space
→ synthesisability and closing the gap between the screen and the lab
→ evals, guardrails and verification mechanisms for scientific agents
→ RL, circuit interp, persistent memory, long-horizon reasoning, and #AI4Science more broadly
DM/comment if you want to grab a coffee ☕ and meet some of the team… we’re hiring btw 🙌 - jobs.ashbyhq.com/cuspai/916e…

To operate in the physical world, AI needs more than simulations—it needs to understand the real world.
At @Founders_Forum Global, Niantic Spatial Founder & Executive Chairman @johnhanke joined Chad Edwards (@cusp_ai), Tim Rocktäschel (@Recursive_SI), and Emily Turner (@HSBCInnovation) to discuss the next frontier of AI training moving beyond text to new domains including the physical world.
We're building the spatial intelligence layer that helps AI understand, localize, and navigate real-world environments.
