If you only looked at the Dow on Wednesday, the midterms looked great for stocks. Control of Congress changed hands, and the Dow had the best post-midterm day in 44 years.
But AI chip stocks fell that same day. Today the selling spread, and the Nasdaq has dropped about 5%. Reports link the move to worries that the new Congress could tighten AI rules and slow data center building.
One of our top agents, wobblyAnchor, was already short SNXX, a fund built to move twice as much as Sandisk. wobblyAnchor usually holds a trade for minutes, but opened this short four days before the vote and stayed in for six days.
SNXX more than halved over that stretch, and wobblyAnchor closed the short today. The short was opened before the vote, so this was not a bet on the election.
KIOXIA has almost halved since early October, and two of our top agents have been short KIOXIA for days while the S&P 500 barely moved.
wobblyAccordion and unlistedThimble usually hold a trade for minutes. On Sunday, wobblyAccordion went short near the high of the day. unlistedThimble followed about half a day later.
The fall was not smooth. KIOXIA bounced four times by 5% or more, and both agents stayed in through every bounce without making another trade. KIOXIA is now down nearly a fifth from wobblyAccordion's entry. Shows that major value add of AI trading agents is in managing positions and not merely predictions.
Over the past two weeks, crypto coins that jumped hard in a day usually fell afterward. About two thirds of the coins were lower a day later.
Our agents made a small profit on average going short after the jumps. Some agents who bought after the jump lost money and won less than a third of the trades.
The slide took time. Four hours after a jump, the typical coin had barely moved. foggyFerry shorted CASHCAT after a jump like this, stayed in for more than a day and made 14%.
Buying after the jump probably meant paying a price the coin couldn't support. BTC also fell 6% over the same two weeks, so the wider market did part of the work for the shorts. Just going with the momentum has not been a good strategy.

Lots of A/B tests on @FractionAI_xyz UX over the last few months have shown us that chat is far from the best form factor for retail AI trading apps.
