I love seeing Colorado’s wildlife out in the wild, and river otters are some of my favorites! At first glance, you might think this is Nessie, but it's actually a river otter taking a dive. You can even spot one of the telltale signs: that thick, tapered tail. Have you ever spotted a river otter in Colorado? Share your sighting and help Colorado Parks and Wildlife learn more about these incredible animals through the Otter YEAR survey. On this day in 1893, Colorado became the first state to grant women the right to vote through a popular referendum. By a vote of 35,798 to 29,551, Coloradans helped make history and advance the fight for equal voting rights. We honor the women who organized, advocated, and persevered to make their voices heard. Their work helped pave the way for generations of women to participate in our democracy.

Americans expect their elected leaders to focus on results. Congress has an opportunity and a responsibility to work together to address the challenges facing families, lower costs, strengthen our economy, and protect the opportunities that make our country strong. Regardless of party, public service means delivering for the people we represent. It's time to turn promises into progress.

Colorado stands with the Lakewood community and the entire law enforcement family. My heart is with Agent Graham’s family, friends, and fellow members of the @LakewoodPDCO as they grieve this tremendous loss. I am also keeping the three injured agents and the wounded civilian in my thoughts and wishing them a full recovery. Agent Nic Graham served his community with empathy and compassion. His service will not be forgotten.

Southwestern Colorado communities are continuing to recover from devastating flooding. On October 31, I requested an expedited Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to help bring federal resources to the region, repair damaged infrastructure, and support communities as they rebuild. We're working with local, state, tribal, and federal partners to help Southwest Colorado recover and assess additional damage from this past weekend's flooding. Today, I proclaimed Evan Dunn Day in Colorado on the two-year anniversary of Golden Police Officer Evan Dunn’s death in the line of duty. Officer Dunn dedicated his life to serving and protecting others, first in the U.S. Army National Guard and later with the @GoldenCOPS. His courage, commitment, and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Through this proclamation, we recognize his service and honor his memory. Our thoughts remain with his wife, family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire Golden community. Officer Dunn will not be forgotten.

Colorado is mourning the loss of a Lakewood Police Agent killed in the line of duty tonight. My condolences are with the agent’s family, loved ones, fellow agents, and the entire Lakewood Police Department. I am keeping the three injured agents and the wounded civilian in my thoughts as they receive medical care. Colorado is grateful to the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and Colorado stands with Lakewood during this difficult time.

It was a pleasure to join First Gentleman Marlon Reis and Dr. Marc Bekoff for the final Animal Issues Speaker Series. For the past two years, Marlon has brought together animal experts, advocates, and community members to highlight animal welfare, conservation, and how we can better protect the animals we share our state with. Every animal deserves compassion, whether it lives in our home or roams Colorado’s beautiful landscapes. I'm grateful to everyone who has been part of these conversations and to the advocates who continue this important work every day.

Colorado's wildlife is part of what makes our state special, and we can do more to protect it. This year, I signed a new law to create the Wildlife Collision Prevention Program, giving Coloradans the option to contribute $5 during vehicle registration to fund wildlife crossings, underpasses, and other safety projects. It's an investment that helps protect wildlife, prevent crashes, and keep Colorado's roads safer for everyone. Read more from @ColoradoDOT: codot.gov/news/2026/october-…

Thanks to voters’ support, Colorado is one step closer to affordable, convenient, and reliable passenger rail that will save people time and money, reduce traffic, and protect our clean air. Coloradans made our voices heard and are excited about the future of passenger rail in our state. It’s in the name: the Colorado Connector, CoCo, will connect communities across the Front Range, expand transportation options for Coloradans and visitors, reduce traffic and pollution, and save us time and money. I look forward to enjoying Front Range Passenger Rail for decades to come.

Since day one, I’ve been focused on ensuring Colorado students have opportunities to succeed in and out of the classroom. Today, Colorado is #1 nationally in education, a testament to the results we’ve delivered for students at every stage, including universal preschool, free full-day kindergarten, and fully funding K-12 education. I believe education is the single best investment we can make in Colorado’s future, and in this election, Colorado voters agreed by voting to increase investment in our schools. I want to thank the hardworking educators of our state and the Colorado Education Association, as well as Gary Ventures and other partners, who worked so hard to make this vision a reality. I look forward to seeing these new resources reduce class sizes, increase teacher pay, and save parents money by expanding child care, preschool, and the number of days students spend in the classroom.

Devastating flooding has damaged homes and businesses, washed away roads, and disrupted the basic services Southwestern Colorado families depend on. Colorado has deployed rescue teams, delivered supplies, quickly restored use of roads, and committed state funding to help communities respond and recover. The damage documented so far exceeds what state and local resources can address alone. I am asking President Trump to swiftly approve this request to help restore essential services, rebuild damaged infrastructure, and support these communities on their road to recovery.

Southwest Colorado communities are working to recover from devastating flooding. We're collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to assess damage, restore critical infrastructure, and get communities back on their feet. I have requested a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration to help bring additional federal resources to the region and support long-term recovery, and I urge President Trump to grant Colorado’s request.
