Brilliant photo.
From “Old Ireland in Colour 3” 📘:
Margaret Skinnider (centre), republican, teacher, and trade unionist, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to immigrant parents from Co. Monaghan
c. 1916, Dublin
If you want to find out more about Skinnider, we recommend the book by @MaryMcAuliffe4
Thank you to the @SligoWeekender for featuring this lovely Robert French @nlireland photo from Co. Sligo as colourised for “Old Ireland in Colour 3” - and congratulations on your 40th Birthday!! 🎈

Clarification via Facebook: She was born in Coatbridge, which is 8.5 miles from or on the outskirts of Glasgow - her father's (James) roots are in Monaghan (Cornagilta, Tydavnet) and her mother's (Jane [O']Dowd, Barrhead, East Renfrewshire) roots are likely originally in Meath

Lovely front page on this week’s @irelandsown1902 - my grandfather (a big Ireland’s Own fan) was a lighthouse keeper so I 💚 lighthouses!
This photo of Fastnet being constructed c. 1900, around the same time as Ireland’s Own was born, is from @nlireland’s @irishlights collection

Dennis Dennys
Taken before November 1866
Mountjoy Prison, Dublin
Identified as felons and Fenian political prisoners, the subjects of these photos include some of the leaders of the Fenian Brotherhood and its Irish wing, the IRB
Version 2 - something a little weird happened with the colours last time - and with an alt description this time
