Early Nathan Fielder. He got to interview his boss on the air and made it as awkward as possible.

It’s really an A+ troll by Zelenskyy to take out half of Russia’s bot farm, weeks before the US midterm elections.

I’ve been wondering about this. I’m in the US and so I suffer from typical amerimyopia, but — what’s the vibe in other countries? are many Europeans, for example, treating the capabilities gap as an urgent and pressing problem, or is it more of a shrug?
How do politicians in your country react to the fact that the US is *this* close to complete automation of knowledge work and de facto has a monopoly on AGI as in infinite knowledge work, anon?

Looks like the Vulcan's having Amok Time again. Never pretty to see.

People are what they appear to be. Beyond that, unless they can cite specific ACTG sequences for their cell or mitochondrial DNA that somehow defy appearances, it’s all in their mind. I’ve met so many people who look extremely European in every way and tell me they’re Jewish. Well, maybe there are a few OG “Jewish ACTG” sequences in there somewhere, but clearly not many! Where is the list of these ACTG sequences? 🤷‍♂️

People just genuinely cannot fathom that those who work in AI are trying to be honest and candid about what the risks seem to be. I think it’s true that we undersell the benefits and are ~bad at marketing, but the notion that risk discourse is a branding tactic is simply wrong.
One reason I am reflexively skeptical of the AI industry’s claims is that the very people we are supposed to hail as geniuses also completely failed to anticipate that branding their antichrist box the Best-Case-Mass-Layoffs-Worst-Cast-Extinction Machine was a non-savvy PR move.

Trump: “You don’t pay the tariffs.” Also Trump: “I’m suspending tariffs on beef so you can have cheaper prices.” MAGA is so fucking stupid.

This is an absolutely terrible idea. US support for the dissolution of Canada will make it an enemy - not just the alienated former ally it is now, but an enemy. No country can stand by while its neighbor undermines its sovereignty Trump always finds a way to make things worse
🚨 WOW! Support is ramping up among Alberta citizens to SECEDE from Canada, with the first vote taking place Oct. 19 The province is right-wing and Albertans are FED UP with not having sovereignty, sufficient rights, and feel like BILLIONS are being taken away from them 💯 Treasury Sec. SCOTT BESSENT has voiced support for Albertans taking the step to secede. If the Oct. 19 passes, another vote would be required to make it final. After that, any notion of joining the United States would require a separate process SECEDE AND JOIN THE USA 🔥 We'd gain a red state, 2 GOP senators, beautiful land and natural resources. And Alberta would likely gain even more in return. "Massive oil and gas reserves. They provide high employment, high incomes and a lot of money to Canada's federal budget." "We're looking at just about over a $30 billion outflow of economic activity from Alberta to confederation for which we don't get anything back!" "Albertans aren't exercising their sovereignty and it's costing them billions of dollars."

The Atlantic reports that U.S. manufacturers are concerned that Ukrainians could figure out how to improve the Patriot system and then mass-produce it at a fraction of the cost of existing U.S. production lines.

Except for smartphones. London is Mogadishu for iPhones.
What will Elon Musk, Restore and Reform say to this?

The point is to diminish trust in the electoral system in order to make way for laws and crackdowns that suppress turnout, especially in key places, and to target free speech and assembly in the name of election "security".
Massie: "I don't think the problem is that our elections aren't secure because we control the House, Senate, White House, and to some degree we control the Supreme Court. So I ask my Republican colleagues, why are you complaining about election fraud? We won all the damn elections!"

Very cool, entertaining and with high production values: if I were @Nigel_Farage, I’d consider dipping into that £5 million to try to get out a video that can compare to it.

I know "both sides" is anathema, but does anyone not miss the symmetry to Trumpism?
Another one from the Bernie endorsement files. When you over-index on personal loyalty and “anti-establishment” bona fides over traditional recruiting metrics like past electoral performance you get a lot of duds.
