🚨NEW: Zack Polanski is coming under pressure to offer a more public backing of Caroline Lucas following @Tony_Diver and @pietersnep reporting that some members are calling for her expulsion - branding her a "toxic, divisive and a shill for apartheid and genocide”. Sky News understands Polanski supports Lucas's right to be in the party and acknowledges she has received abuse online - but asked what his response was to the messages directed at Lucas, a Green Party spokesperson said: "Of course Zack condemns online abuse." The response has provoked criticism from some party members for not being strong enough. One told Sky News: "If we tolerate this behaviour we risk creating a party where policy is decided by those who are most comfortable with online harassment, with all others being bullied in to silence. The only way to stop this is through leadership and unity." Another Green insider said: "The idea that one of our most important figures could be pushed out for expressing a political view in a fair and considered manner is a sign of how much the culture inside the party needs to change. "Headquarters needs to urgently get a grip and unequivocally state that Caroline Lucas is a valued and important member of the community." A third source added: "All Green MPs, peers and those in the leadership team are going to have to get used to the party being put under more pressure as it becomes more influential. They have to show solidarity with one another when that happens."

Conference cough? At just before 4.55pm, Tory chief whip Rebecca Harris came into Commons chamber with what looked like a lozenge for Kemi Badenoch, passed it to Tom Tugendhat, who gave it to the Tory leader. She unwrapped it & gave wrapper back to shadow foreign sec. Teamwork!
