I love our supplementary schools! It was great to speak at the Awards Ceremony for our supplementary schools this week, and thank everyone for their hard work. It's a huge testament to our community's commitment to creating opportunities for our young people that so many people put their time and energy into these school. I look forward to visiting many more.

When you appear on GB News to talk about the budget and everyone agrees with our Labour policy to lift 70,000 more high street businesses out of paying business rates, funded by Adult Gaming Centres (24/7 slot machines) and vape stores...

Today’s Budget is a really positive and significant day for London. At its heart is a new devolution revolution. My statement:

This year we marked 40 years since the Chernobyl disaster. During my recent visit to Ukraine, I saw first-hand the importance of protecting and repairing Chernobyl after it was recklessly hit by a Russian drone. I recently asked the Defence Secretary for an update on international efforts to secure and repair this globally significant site, and I welcome the Government's commitment of £17 million for repairs that will help make it safe and secure. Chernobyl remains a symbol of why nuclear safety can never be taken for granted.

Big news today: for the first time, construction product companies - including those that contributed to the Grenfell fire - will be forced to pay to resolve the building safety crisis. It’s shameful that companies like Arconic, Kingspan and Celotex have avoided picking up the bill to fix unsafe cladding That will change as part of the new Building Safety Bill we voted on today. I will do all I can to make sure none of these companies have access to public contracts, especially while the criminal justice process is ongoing.

The world cannot ignore what is happening in Sudan. One year on from the mass atrocities in El Fasher, the UK is sanctioning those linked to these and other atrocities, and strengthening support for survivors and communities at risk of famine.

Congratulations to @LulaOficial on his re-election. Together, our two governments have promoted shared values of democracy, social justice and climate action since 2024 and look forward to continuing to do so. His victory is a historic win for the global progressive movement.

Ignore the misinformation. We need to fix a small number of specific flaws that the previous government knowingly left in its Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 to ensure that the enfranchisement measures in that piece of legislation can operate as intended. We have made clear we intend to make those fixes through our forthcoming Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill. Once we have done so and can implement the new valuation process, it will be cheaper and easier for leaseholders to extend their lease or buy their freehold.

Good news: The latest ONS crime stats show that theft from the person (e.g. phone theft) was driven down by 24% over the last year.. Robbery of personal property was driven down 12%. Our hard work and record funding from City Hall is paying off.

60 years on from the Aberfan tragedy, we remember the 144 lives lost, and the dangers of of what can happen when warnings are ignored, and when those in positions of power fail to act. Remembering those who died must go hand in hand with ensuring that such failures are never allowed to happen again.

The Tories have chased Reform so far to the right on Europe that we will likely see more people like Andrew leaving the party. I know many residents in Kensington & Bayswater are deeply concerned about this reckless position on the ECHR. We should be building a closer partnership with Europe, not burning the bridges we have.

This Labour government’s transformative Renters’ Rights Act empowers private renters to challenge unreasonable rent increases. If a tenant believes a proposed rent increase is above the open-market rent, they can refer the matter to the First-tier Tribunal. In a recent case in Manchester where the Landlord proposed an increase in rent from £1,650 per calendar month to £1,700, the Tribunal determined the open market rent was actually £1,450 per calendar month. We’re standing up for renters and our reforms are working. gov.uk/residential-property-…

I recently attended a local screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing Film at Thomas’s School in Kensington. The film explores the risks and impacts of the climate crisis, and the importance of building greater public awareness and preparedness. I know how strongly many local residents feel about climate and environmental issues, and I’m grateful to everyone who has taken the time to write to me and share their views. Thank you to everyone involved in organising the screening and those who took the time to attend and contribute.

Today the Tories pushed a vote to leave the ECHR. A vote to destabilise our relations with the EU and undermine the Good Friday Agreement. A vote to join Russia and Belarus as the only European countries outside. A vote to turn their backs on a charter championed by Churchill.

At Prime Minister's Questions today, @andyburnham gave his support to a National Oversight Mechanism to ensure that the state is accountable for change after tragedies like Grenfell. This campaign has been led by @GrenfellUnited and @Inquest_org, and I'll keep working hard to make sure this is up and running as soon as possible.

I love meeting young people who are enthusiastic about getting involved in politics, and supporting their ideas and drive to change our community for the better. In Liverpool at Labour Party Conference, I chatted with @ayahmamode about national and local politics, and whether young people should be optimistic about the future. If you’re a young person in Kensington & Bayswater and have an idea you want to share, or if you want to get involved in any of our campaigns, then get in touch!
