Russia has a message for foreign diplomats in Kyiv: leave, or risk your lives. Our answer: We are staying. The EU Delegation is staying. Threatening us will not stop Europe’s support for Ukraine. It only reminds us why that support matters! 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦 @EUDelegationUA

First ever medical evacuation purely by unmanned vehicles!! First an aerial drone and then a ground vehicle brought a wounded soldier to safety. 👏👏👏 to 🇺🇦 innovation!!!
Ukraine has achieved many historic firsts in this war. Here is another one: the first-ever aerial medical evacuation of a wounded soldier using a heavy-lift drone. On the Kupiansk front, Ukraine’s Defence Forces rescued Kostiantyn Vlasenko of the 30th Mechanized Brigade, who had held his position for 491 days despite devastating injuries and weeks without medical assistance. In a carefully planned operation involving several Ukrainian units, a modified Ukrainian-made heavy-lift drone lifted him 120 metres and flew him to safety. A ground robotic vehicle then transported him to a stabilisation point. This is what happens when Ukrainian innovation meets the extraordinary resilience of our soldiers. Our people are our greatest asset, and we will keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible to save lives. This groundbreaking operation adds to Ukraine’s unique body of knowledge from modern warfare. We are ready to share our experience with partners to strengthen the security of Europe and the world. 📷: 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko; Maria Malevska

Seventy years ago, Europe and the entire world faced a very important and, in many ways, decisive crossroads, when the people of Hungary rose up for freedom and against the Soviet system. The courage and love of freedom shown by Hungarians proved remarkably strong, and they still amaze all of us in Europe. Unfortunately, the world did not make the strong decisions needed to help them at that time. This led to further decades of totalitarian rule across much of Europe, which ended only with the revolutions of the 1980s. The year 1956 could have changed a great deal. This lesson now gives us grounds to say with absolute certainty: when people show courage and love of freedom, it is worth supporting. It deserves support everywhere in the world, so that freedom grows. I thank everyone who remembers history, honors people's courage and love of freedom, and does not shy away from decisions when decisions are needed. We honor the heroes of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956!

If you want to know what russia’s “desire for peace” looks like, look at Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy or Kremenchuk after last night. The russians launched ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones at Ukraine. Once again, Kyiv was the primary target. The city was attacked in four waves, with explosions heard throughout the night. And no, they were not attacking military targets, but civilians ones. Two people were killed, in Kyivvanf Kharkiv, and many injured, including four children. In the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv, an emergency ambulance station was damaged, and six ambulances were destroyed!!! The strikes also damaged sections of metro infrastructure on the Southern Bridge, prompting authorities to restrict road traffic from one side of Kyiv to the other. A popular shopping mall was completely destroyed, as you can see on one of the photographs. In Kharkiv, jet-powered drones damaged homes and sparked fires. In Kremenchuk, a russian drone struck a private television and radio broadcaster, setting the building on fire. The false russian narrative spreading around the world claims that the Kremlin wants peace and Kyiv is the obstacle. It is part of russian propaganda and should not be believed. Anyone who has any doubts should look at the russians’ actions over the past months. According to a UN report, civilian casualties in Ukraine rose by 85% in September 2026, compared with September 2025. At least 328 civilians were killed and 2,105 injured due to intensified russian day time attacks. Those who truly want peace do not spill the blood of innocent civilians. This is the only true narrative that should be believed. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦

Every day, I receive reports of russian attacks on Ukraine. Every single day. And each time, I ask myself whether to write about them. Because I worry about overwhelming you with reports of attacks. Of people killed. Of people wounded. How did we get here? To a point where we worry about overwhelming a world at peace with news of the horrors of war? We need to know. We need to talk about it. And I will keep writing about it. Last night, Ukraine once again came under a massive combined cruise missiles & drones russian attack. russian forces struck 27 areas. Kyiv was among them. Two people were murdered. They burned to death in a 20-storey residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district. russian strikes also hit the Desnianskyi and Solomianskyi districts. Two more people were murdered in a massive russian drone attack on a residential neighbourhood in Korotych in the Kharkiv region. Their bodies were recovered from the rubble of a destroyed home. Eleven people were injured, including two young children. In the Poltava region, russian attacks injured three people, including a 16-year-old who was wounded when a strike hit a university building in Kremenchuk, setting it on fire. In the Rivne region, repeated russian strikes hit a hypermarket on 20 October, injuring four people. These are not just numbers. Behind every number, every person killed or wounded, are loved ones living with pain and fear. Every one of them is missed by someone. This is what war looks like. Despite talk of a ceasefire, despite russian lies about peace, its end is still nowhere in sight. We need to keep talking about it. I will keep writing about it. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦

21 year old woman is dead. Last night, russia killed her in Kyiv. At 21, you should have years ahead of you. The whole life. Hers ended in a massive combine ballistic missile & drone attack on the capital city. The sirens sounded late yesterday evening. Explosions followed almost at once. Barely time to understand what was happening. Barely time to reach safety. A medical centre was hit in the Desnianskyi district. Then came another wave of missiles during the night. A metro station on the Left Bank of the Dnipro river was damaged. So was a 25-storey apartment building in the Solomianskyi district. A woman killed. Eight people injured, according to preliminary reports. These may not be the final numbers. The full damage is still being assessed. I am thinking of them this morning. And of everyone in Kyiv who has to get through today after a night like this. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦

Russia is trying throw Ukraine into cold and darkness ahead of the winter. Yesterday - one of most massive attacks on energy facilities, many in West of Ukraine. 😡😡
Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power. The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences. It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters. Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

Excellent news on setting up a Joint 🇪🇺🇺🇦 Task Force to accelerate work on interim benchmarks for EU accession! @MartaKosEU @KoretskyiUA
Ukraine is among the countries making most progress towards EU membership. Following the opening of two more negotiating clusters this week, I discussed the next steps with PM @KoretskyiUA. We agreed to launch a joint Task Force to accelerate progress on the interim benchmarks and advance essential rule of law and anti-corruption reforms. This step shows our commitment to supporting Ukraine's path to EU membership. Our success will require unity and commitment from all involved Ukrainian partners. We saw this earlier this week when the Ukrainian parliament adopted the new education laws on minorities.

Believe me when I say: everyone in Ukraine wants peace! From the highest government official to the youngest child learning in an underground classroom. But peace cannot survive on promises alone. On Sunday, an energy ceasefire was announced. Ukraine stopped striking russian refineries. russia continued attacking Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. People kept dying. Just last week, the UN reported more than 100 civilians killed and at least 429 injured in Ukraine. In Pryluky alone, five children were among the dead. Since the full-scale invasion, the UN has verified more than 15,000 civilian deaths. The real number is of course much higher. russia has already violated the most fundamental rule of international law: do not invade another sovereign country. Its attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violate the laws of war. And now we are supposed to trust another promise? Ukrainians desperately want peace. But a ceasefire requires two sides to honour it. Not one side stopping while the other keeps bombing. Europe must stand firm. We must support every genuine effort to end this war, but never confuse an announcement with peace. Because peace will not come from Putin’s words. Peace can only come from Putin’s actions. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦 Getty Images Kryvyi Rih 2025

Today’s €2.86 billion disbursement under the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan will help 🇺🇦 strengthen its defence, protect its skies and save lives. 🇪🇺’s steadfast support matters more than ever as Ukraine prepares for a difficult winter, with Russia continuing to target its energy infrastructure. Standing with Ukraine means helping it defend its people, land and critical infrastructure. 🇪🇺🤝🇺🇦

Kyiv has been living through this for far too long. Last night, russia launched another massive ballistic missile attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, as well as Kharkiv. 39 ballistic missiles and over 120 drones and loitering munitions! Three people killed. Twenty-two injured. A nine-storey apartment building was hit in the capital. Fire spread through people’s homes. Rescuers helped residents down ladders while others stood outside, watching their building burn. Energy facilities were the main target. More than 600,000 people are now without electricity. Despite the announced energy ceasefire. More than a dozen explosions were heard before dawn as further waves of missiles reached the city. Railway infrastructure also suffered numerous. attacks For the second night in a row, Ukraine says it received no advance warning about the ballistic missile launches. President Zelenskyy said the first wave of missiles was detected only as it approached Kyiv. That missing warning means missing time. Time to wake a child. To get downstairs. To reach a shelter. I think of my colleagues and friends in Kyiv. Of how long they have been living like this. The sleepless nights. The fear for their children. The calls and messages after each attack to check that everyone is alive. Then getting up and going to work. Ukraine needs air defence, interceptors and reliable early warnings. Every minute of warning can give someone a chance to survive. My heart is with the families of those killed, the injured, and with everyone who spent this night afraid in their own home.

Despite Russia’s relentless aggression, Ukrainians continue to pave their path to EU membership. Today, we recognised this progress by opening two more negotiating clusters: Internal Market and Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth. Reforms under these clusters will help prepare for Ukraine’s reconstruction and attract investments, modernize its economy and create jobs. As one of our frontrunners, we are determined to continue supporting Ukraine and keep this progress going.
