The ‘h’ in ‘ghost‘ shouldn’t really be there. Flemish typesetters who set up the printing press put an ‘h’ in several ‘g’ words - such as goose, goat and girl, because that was how the Flemish word was spelled. For some reason, the ‘h’ in ghost stuck around.
