I'm not sure but is this from his amazing essay on Edith Nesbit where he (correctly) blames all the ills of American politics on the nation's failure to engage fully with The Railway Children.

Every year for 12 years, I’ve co-taught a 10 week MA module that I co-devised called ‘Children’s Literature in Action’ where our students lead children to talk and write about books. We’ve produced a book too.
"There is a growing reading crisis among children. Yet while adults debate what should be done, children’s voices remain largely unheard."

Pre-orders really help a book get noticed.
And they help a bookshop stay alive.
If you pre-order from @Pritchardsbooks - I'll pop in and sign.
If you order from bookshop.org you'll be helping indie booksellers everywhere ..

On this day in 1963, Dennis Walker became the first black player to play for @ManUtd when he made his debut at Nottingham Forest.
Walker added 'Manchester hero' to his list of notable achievements in 1996 when he helped evacuate the Arndale when it was bombed.
He was working as part of the security of the centre and his efforts that went a long way to miraculously ensuring nobody was killed.
When the bomb exploded, Dennis, who had just left the centre, was thrown across the street by the force.
He survived. Another remarkable element to the life story of Dennis Walker.
