After a nearly five-year fight for a safer and more equitable workplace, we have agreed to terms for a first contract at @NBCNews, @NBCNewsNow, and @TODAYshow.
We’re excited to share details after a ratification vote by the membership.

Too often AI is used in newsrooms without a human behind it, undermining our credibility and spreading misinformation. The NBC Guild supports the NewsGuild of New York (@nyguild) and The NewsGuild (@NewsGuild) when we say: No AI slop in the newsroom!

NBC News laid off over 30 of our members this month, using the excuse of the @VersantMedia spinoff to continue prioritizing extreme corporate profits over the workers that create the value behind @NBCNews and @TODAYshow.
Our union is unwavering in our commitment to a fair and equitable newsroom at @NBCNews and @TODAYshow, and we will continue to enforce our contract to ensure our members’ rights are protected.

After more than half a decade, we have our contract ratified. Thank you to everyone involved especially @tatejamesdotcom @DohaMadani @CarlinMcCarthy @AndrewJStern and the OG @RebeccaDavis who first told me about the idea of a union in 2018.
In the words of Elle Woods, WE DID IT.
After an overwhelming 94% ratification vote, we have secured the first union contract for the digital newsrooms of @NBCNews, @NBCNewsNOW, and @TODAYshow.
We are proud of the work that we do, and we're excited to continue that work with the protections of a strong first contract.

Years of work and thousands of hours in those years were spent organizing and planning and bargaining for this contract, the first contract for @NBC’s digital workers union covering News and TODAY and News Now. This contract is now so very very close to reality. Solidarity.

I am so grateful for the @nbcnewsguild bargaining team, who worked tirelessly to make this happen. Thank you for being the driving force without whom this wouldn’t have been possible.

A few weeks ago, I was informed I was being laid off from NBC News. I’d been on bereavement and medical leave, so it was a bit of a shock. After taking some time to reset, I am now open/looking for work both in and outside of journalism. Get in touch at [email protected].
