NHTSA announced plans today to modernize federal tire regulations to improve driver safety, lower automotive costs, and keep pace with modern vehicle engineering. 🔍 Key focus areas include: ⚙️ Modernized Testing: Updating safety tests—such as tire strength, rim resistance, and endurance—to match modern vehicle weights and current road conditions. 💡 Evaluating Next-Gen Tech: Establishing safety standards for innovations like airless (puncture-proof) tires, modernizing sidewall markings, and revising weight limits for trucks and SUVs. 🤝 Collaborative Rulemaking: @USDOT Secretary Sean P.
