🇦🇺 AUSTRALIA: Under-16 social media ban in force since Dec 2025.
🇲🇾 MALAYSIA: Under-16 account restrictions being implemented.
🇮🇩 INDONESIA: Under-16 restrictions being phased in for designated high-risk platforms.
🇵🇹 PORTUGAL: Parliament approved legislation requiring parental consent for ages 13-16.

Official position: VPNs will not be banned or age-gated
Also official position: platforms should detect circumvention including via VPNs.
The new trend is outsourcing mass surveillance enforcement to platforms under the threat of a fine.

Connection errors you can see
Connecting should just work, and when it doesn't, you should know why. Before this release, a DNS resolver failure could fail silently, leaving you unsure whether you were really protected. Now those failures are reported plainly, alongside clearer error messages across the app. Fewer silent failures means fewer moments spent guessing whether the tunnel is actually up.
A clear notice when an update is required
Running an outdated app can mean missing security fixes, or hitting features that no longer work. NymVPN now tells you clearly when your version needs updating and points you to the update, instead of failing in ways that are hard to diagnose.
