🧡 INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY 🧡 Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day, honoring the histories, cultures, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous peoples while recognizing the Native communities and Tribal Nations that continue to thrive today! Indigenous Peoples’ Day is also an opportunity to learn history through Indigenous perspectives. That includes acknowledging the lasting impacts of colonization, displacement, broken treaties, boarding schools, and cultural suppression, while recognizing the generations of Indigenous people who have protected and revitalized their languages, traditions, cultures, communities, and connections to their lands. For @OhgawdEvents, today is an opportunity to listen and learn from the Indigenous people who are part of gaming, streaming, esports, art, and the communities around us. Indigenous people are not only part of history, they are creators, players, leaders, storytellers, artists, and community builders shaping these spaces today. We encourage our community to seek out Indigenous voices, learn about the Tribal Nations in your area, support Native creators and businesses, and continue learning beyond today! 🧡 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about Indigenous histories and communities, along with organizations and links where you can donate and directly support Indigenous-led work. Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day from OhgawdEvents! 🧡

🩷 GENDERFLUID VISIBILITY WEEK 💜 There is no single way to experience gender, and there is no single way to be genderfluid. Genderfluid Visibility Week celebrates people whose experience of gender may shift over time and creates space for genderfluid voices, identities, and experiences to be seen and celebrated! For some people, those shifts may happen often; for others, occasionally or without any predictable pattern. Someone may use different names, pronouns, or forms of expression as their gender changes, while someone else may not change any of those things at all. A person’s identity is theirs to define. Within @OhgawdEvents, we want people to have room to be themselves without feeling like they have to explain or prove their identity to belong. Supporting genderfluid people can be as simple as listening to how someone describes themselves, respecting the name and pronouns they ask you to use, and allowing people the freedom to explore and express who they are without judgment. 🩷🤍💜🖤💙 This week, celebrate genderfluid voices, learn from their experiences, challenge misconceptions, and remember that someone’s identity changing does not make it any less real or deserving of respect. 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about genderfluid and nonbinary identities, along with organizations and links where you can donate and directly support transgender, nonbinary, genderfluid, and LGBTQ+ communities. Happy Genderfluid Visibility Week from OhgawdEvents! 🩷💜💙

💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 💚 Today, October 10, we recognize World Mental Health Day, a day to have honest conversations about mental health, challenge stigma, share resources, and remind one another that mental health deserves the same care and compassion as our physical health. Mental health isn’t always visible. Someone can be gaming, working, studying, creating, laughing with friends, or supporting everyone around them while quietly struggling themselves. We may never fully know what another person is carrying, which is why kindness, patience, listening, and checking in can matter more than we realize. For @OhgawdEvents, community has always meant more than simply playing games together. It’s about the friendships and connections we build, being there for one another, and creating spaces where people don’t have to feel alone. We hope to continue encouraging conversations about mental health without shame and reminding people that asking for support is okay 💚 World Mental Health Day may be one day, but these conversations matter every day. Check in with yourself, check in with the people you love, listen without judgment, and never be afraid to reach out when you need support. 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about mental health, along with organizations and links where you can find support, donate, and directly support mental health advocacy and care. You matter. Your story matters. And it’s okay to ask for help. 💚

🧠 ADHD AWARENESS MONTH 🧠 October is ADHD Awareness Month, a time to bring more understanding to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, challenge the stereotypes that often surround it, and amplify the experiences of people who live with ADHD every day. ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone. It can influence attention, organization, time management, impulsivity, emotional regulation, activity levels, and many other parts of everyday life. Some of those experiences may be noticeable to others, while many happen beneath the surface. That’s why ADHD is so much more complex than simply being “distracted,” “hyper,” or “unorganized.” Whether it’s remembering a responsibility, keeping track of time, staying focused during a conversation, completing a task, or navigating an overwhelming environment, experiences that may seem small from the outside can feel very different for someone with ADHD. Understanding begins when we stop assuming what ADHD is supposed to look like and start listening to the people who experience it. There’s no one “right” way to think, learn, communicate, create, play, or participate in a community. The people who make up @OhgawdEvents all bring their own strengths, personalities, needs, and ways of experiencing the world, and that diversity is something worth making space for. For those with ADHD, greater understanding from the people around them can make a meaningful difference. Sometimes that simply means being patient, communicating openly, respecting someone’s needs, and choosing understanding instead of judgment. 💛 This month, we encourage everyone to learn from people with lived experience, seek out reliable information, challenge misconceptions when you hear them, and remember that different needs do not make someone less capable or less deserving of support. 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about ADHD, along with organizations and links where you can donate and directly support ADHD education, advocacy, resources, and community programs. Happy ADHD Awareness Month from OhgawdEvents! 🧠💛

💜 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜 This October, we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A time to honor survivors, remember those whose lives have been lost, raise awareness about the many forms abuse and sexual violence can take, and make sure people know that support is available. Domestic violence does not always leave visible injuries. Abuse can be physical, emotional, sexual, financial, psychological, or technological, and may involve isolation, intimidation, stalking, coercion, threats, or other behaviors intended to maintain power and control over another person. Supporting survivors begins with listening, believing, and respecting their choices. Leaving an abusive situation is not always simple and can sometimes increase a survivor’s risk of harm. Instead of questioning why someone stays, we can ask what they need, respect their decisions, and help connect them with resources when they are ready. Recent conversations surrounding sexual violence are also an important reminder that consent, accountability, and speaking up when something is wrong are responsibilities we all share. Silence from the people around us can allow harm to continue. Whether we are friends, classmates, coworkers, teammates, community members, or witnesses, we should never normalize, encourage, joke about, participate in, or look the other way when someone’s safety or consent is being violated. Supporting survivors also means creating a culture where people feel safe coming forward and where allegations of abuse and sexual violence are taken seriously and handled responsibly. Safe communities are built through the way we treat and look out for one another. Across @OhgawdEvents, we believe everyone deserves spaces where their boundaries are respected, their experiences are taken seriously, and they can feel supported. Community means looking out for each other even when doing so is uncomfortable. We can all play a part by learning the signs of abuse, challenging victim blaming, understanding consent, intervening safely when possible, and responding to survivors with compassion rather than judgment. 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about domestic violence and sexual violence, along with organizations and links where you can donate and directly support survivors and the organizations serving them. To survivors: we see you, we believe you, and you deserve to feel safe 💜

🩷 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🩷 This October, we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month and stand alongside everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Those newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, living beyond a diagnosis, living with metastatic breast cancer, caregivers, families, friends, and those remembering someone they have lost. Awareness is about much more than wearing pink. It means encouraging education, knowing what changes to pay attention to, understanding individual risk, improving access to screening and care, and continuing to support research toward better treatments and outcomes. It is also important to remember that there is a person behind every diagnosis. Cancer can affect entire families and communities, and everyone's experience with it is different. This month, we encourage our community to lead with compassion, listen to the experiences of patients and survivors, and support the people and organizations working every day to make a difference. At @OhgawdEvents, charity and using our platform to support causes that affect our communities are at the heart of what we do. This month, we stand with everyone affected by breast cancer and honor the strength, experiences, and memories behind every pink ribbon! 🩷 🔗 We’ll be sharing resources below to learn more about breast cancer, screening, treatment, and support, along with organizations and links where you can donate and directly support patients, families, and breast cancer research. For everyone affected by breast cancer: we stand with you🩷
