Jarrett Payton

.@paytonsun does a good job of showing and explaining why the Bears' trade for Jeffery Simmons is different vibe-wise from their trade for Khalil Mack in 2018.

.@BradBiggs on the price the Bears paid for Jeffery Simmons: "Players of his caliber aren't available in the discount bin. You're going to have to pay a premium." Biggs explains a benefit for the Bears is that the Titans already paid Simmons his $20-million signing bonus from his recent big extension. "The Titans already did the dirty work here," Biggs says.

.@paytonsun and our callers are hyped after the Bears acquired star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Titans.

.@DavidHaugh and @paytonsun react to the breaking news that the Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Titans. "This is a home run swing by the Bears," Haugh says. "Let's go!" Payton says.

As it pertains to the Bears' aggressiveness on the trade market, @danwiederer reminds that Chicago should be a legitimate Super Bowl contender for the next 6 to 8 years. "You don't want to start going willy-nilly with the draft capital you're giving up," he says.

.@paytonsun hopes that Montez Sweat has a fire lit from under him coming off his suspension because the Bears defense didn't feel his absence the last two games. "He has so much more to give, and I'm hoping it starts on Monday night," says Payton. "This is your opportunity."

Dennis Allen might not get much sleep this week as the Bears defense prepares to face the Seahawks. @paytonsun wonders, "How in the heck are they going to stop Jaxon Smith-Njigba?"

Until now, @paytonsun has never felt any Bears player has compared to his father in the sense of being a generational talent and beloved icon. "I get that feeling with 18," Payton says of Caleb Williams. "He has that vibe of being that type of player for this city."
