Peace in Our Cities isn't about finding one solution to violence prevention. It's about how cities learn from one another. 🌍 We recently facilitated a city exchange between @PeaceInitiativ2 and @EmpireFightingC in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Thread 🧵
For cities considering this work: the key isn't a specific structure. 🔑 What matters is bringing diverse stakeholders together 🪑, understanding each contribution 🧩, using media strategically 📢, and generating local commitments. 🎯
How does prevention shift from local to regional to systems-level change? Through deliberate media infrastructure. 📢 The Peace Initiative Network (@PeaceInitiativ2) shows us how. Thread 🧵 #PeaceinOurCities
Prevention infrastructure is evidence infrastructure. 🧬 When learning is amplified through media 📢, advocacy 📣, and strategic relationships 🤝, it shifts how regions think about violence prevention. 💡
This is what @PeaceInitiativ2 demonstrates: Local action + regional amplification = systems-level influence. Media as prevention. Evidence as peacebuilding. 🕊️ This is how we address cycles of violence. 🧵
On Day 2 in Abeokuta, @EmpireFightingC led a non-contact boxing session at Alake Sports Center that showed how community groups can weave psychosocial support and emotional self-awareness into youth work. 🥊💪 Thread 🧵
When champions like @anthonyjoshua and partners like @MatchroomBoxing lend support, they provide more than equipment. They bring visibility 👁️, legitimacy ✅, and new opportunities for prevention. 💫 And @PeaceInitiativ2 relationships ensure this reaches young people for years.
