The Entrepreneurship Map turns 15, and today we presented its 2026 edition. Our founder and president, María Benjumea and Diego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of IE University, opened the event, and Salvador Aragón, Chief Innovation Officer at @IEuniversity, our partner on the report, presented the findings from 2,753 startups worldwide. Three takeaways: 👥 Gender diversity in Spain has stalled: women made up 23% of founders in 2013 and 22.6% in 2026. What has changed is who they found with, as mixed-gender teams hit a record high of 37.6%. 🌱 The ecosystem has become its own talent pipeline: founders who previously worked at a startup rose from 5% to 12.7%. Working at a startup is now both a career and a launchpad. 💻 Startups are converging on a single formula: software as a product has grown from 42.2% in 2016 to 59.1% in 2026, and subscription models are present in 70.6% of startups.
