These posts are so exhausting.
$750,000 is an exceptionally high income, easily 99th percentile, but upper class has to do with net worth
You can earn $750k and be middle class easily. A 90th percentile net worth in the US is ~ $2 million. If you don’t own something, a business, say, or have a family trust, $750k will give you a very nice lifestyle with lots of travel and a nice home in a very nice neighborhood, but you won’t “feel” upper class
You’ll feel like you’re working very hard to make your money
Doesn’t make much sense to buy a Patek at retail. Have to buy absolute dogs in order to get anything decent. $90k watches that resell for $60k. Pass.
Fine I’ll vote

Kids are right.
How would you feel if your parents giving you $25 MILLION. Then telling you you're not getting another cent of their $1 BILLION fortune?
Grateful or betrayed?
A billionaire couple gave each of their four adult children $25 million years ago. Now in their 80s, they've decided the rest of their fortune will go to charity, with their 11 grandchildren helping oversee the foundation
Add to that, the father's longtime executive assistant gets $10 million, plus $1 million annually
The kids were not happy
Tears, accusations of betrayal, sons storming out of meetings and refusing to attend family dinner. The kids accused their parents of being "sneaky" and questioned whether the assistant had manipulated their father
The parents could not understand the ingratitude

Absolute narcissist.

My husband makes 500k-750k. We own our house outright. We have no debt. My kids college funds are done. I still work. I have never had any desire not to, though I have worked from home for the entirety of my kids lives.
I don’t like early childcare. It’s very tedious, isolating, frustrating, boring. I simply have no desire to do it for more than 6 hours a day. After every weekend, I am glad Monday is coming because I don’t have to mind small kids for the entire day.
I would quit my job to homeschool my children age 5+, but I do not want to deal with them all day every day when they are 4 and under.
Pretty cool wife, but many times taking a pay cut is not that much less stressful.
Diane is making a case for the worst person on this app.
What an absolute loser. 50 years old, 4 kids, a mortgage and he works as what, a grocery stocker?
Women need to be WAY pickier about who they reproduce with. Maybe he could be chill if he were doing his little grocery stocking job as a single man.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The man in the video is a Red Baron representative stocking frozen pizzas in a grocery store. He stated he has four kids and struggles to pay his mortgage amid long hours; no reports confirm he is 50 years old, and the clip shows him responding to a prank.

APOLOGIES TO ANYONE WHO THINKS OWNING A HOME IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN RENTING, BUT EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.
I’ve been renting the same apartment for four years.
I’ve paid $1,650 every month. That’s $79,200 over four years, and I have the bank statements to prove every cent.
I’ve never missed a payment. I’ve maintained the place. I’ve treated it like my own home and after all that?
I have no ownership stake in the property. Just four years of rent receipts.
Meanwhile, the property owner still owns the asset. My rent contributes to the income that helps cover the costs of owning it, while any equity they build belongs to them.
Now, I’m not saying landlords shouldn’t make money. Property taxes, maintenance, insurance, and mortgage payments are real expenses.
But here’s what I struggle to understand: Why is the only way for me to build an ownership stake in the place I live to somehow save enough money to buy property while I’m already spending a significant portion of my income on housing?
I’m not asking for a free house.
I’m asking why years of consistently paying for shelter don’t leave renters with any ownership in the asset they’re helping sustain.
Renting doesn’t make you irresponsible but why does the system make it so difficult to turn years of housing payments into wealth?
