Being listed on Google does not guarantee a business will appear prominently when potential customers search for its services. Google says local search results are mainly based on three factors: relevance, distance, and prominence. Relevance measures how closely a business profile matches a search; distance considers how far the business is from the person searching. Prominence reflects how well-known it is online, including through customer reviews and links from other websites. Olaiya says businesses can improve their visibility by ensuring their Google Business Profiles accurately describe their services, keeping their business information consistent across online platforms, and encouraging customers to leave reviews. From dominating the rugby field to making moves in fintech, Bryan Habana is proving that life after sports can be just as exciting as the game itself. Turns out, his next big game is happening in business. When PHATHISANI MOYO watched Bryan Habana deliver a presentation in Cape Town, he was intrigued by the personal journey to fintech behind one of South Africa’s most celebrated rugby careers. Eight years after retiring from professional rugby, Bryan Habana found himself facing an unfamiliar opponent: himself. The former Springbok winger and 2007 World Cup winner had spent much of his adult life mastering a sport that made him one of South Africa’s most recognisable athletes. He had represented his country on the biggest stage, performed under immense pressure and built a career around the discipline required to compete at the highest level.

New rules from Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN) will require foreign-currency stablecoin issuers, including companies behind dollar-pegged tokens such as USDT and USDC, to maintain at least ₦15 billion ($11.16 million) in paid-up capital to operate in Africa’s largest cryptocurrency market. The rules, released Thursday evening, will require foreign stablecoin issuers to establish licenced entities in Nigeria and comply with local capital, reserve, and operational requirements or risk losing market access. The CBN also set a ₦10 billion ($7.44 million) minimum capital requirement for issuers of naira-backed stablecoins. The regulations come nearly three months after the CBN opened the second cohort of its regulatory sandbox in August, creating a dedicated track for stablecoin issuers and other virtual asset companies to test their products under its supervision for the first time. On October 30, 2026, @OPay_NG decided not to complete its much-anticipated IPO following a regulatory inquiry involving a jurisdiction it described as immaterial to its business operations. The company had priced 16 million American Depositary Shares (ADSs) at $19 each, valuing it at approximately $4 billion. On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that a Chinese regulator’s inquiry prompted the Nigeria-focused payments company to halt its IPO just hours after setting the price. OPay said in an earlier statement it was confident the inquiry would be resolved satisfactorily “in the near future” but did not identify the regulator or disclose the nature of the inquiry Get the full explainer here : techcabal.com/2026/11/05/opa… #TCexplainer #TechCabal

Safaricom, Kenya’s largest telecommunications operator, generated KES 4.9 billion ($38 million) from Fuliza, its M-PESA overdraft service that lets customers complete transactions when they lack enough money in their wallets.

The figures point to growing reliance on short-term credit as a revenue source for M-PESA. Lending is growing much faster than payments revenue. However, smaller loan sizes and declining repayment ratios raise questions about borrower behaviour and the business’s economics.
