APIs are more than “sending requests.” An API payload is the extra information sent with the request. Think of a TV remote: • Volume button = endpoint • “Increase volume by 50” = payload The button tells what to do. The payload tells how much or with what data.

A TV remote is basically an API. You press Netflix, volume up, power, or Prime Video — each button calls a different endpoint. You don’t need to know how the TV works inside. You just send a request and get a response. [API explained simply]
