[𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁] 🧙 Gandalf: Flash Shall Not Die!
KV cache has (quite literally) created an existential problem for flash storage. When SSDs are used to offload KV cache, they can wear out in just a few WEEKS, because KV cache is huge and generated nonstop.
Imagine having to put a new SSD in your MacBook every few weeks. That's what is happening in LLM inference systems today.
Researchers and engineers at Tensormesh and @UChicago show that SSD lifetime can be extended 3–7x with software-only changes, no new hardware needed. The key insight: exploit the intrinsic structure of KV cache in modern LLMs.

CacheBlend reuses KV cache anywhere in the prompt, not just shared prefixes: 𝟮.𝟱𝘅 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗔𝗚.
So what happens when that cache moves off RAM onto IBM Storage Scale? @IBM @nvidia @Supermicro

As models consume more tokens to tackle increasingly complex tasks, the compute, memory, storage, and energy behind them matter too.
AI economics and 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 are becoming the same conversation.

𝑲𝑽 𝒄𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆 doesn't always disappear when a request is over.
For multi-turn, RAG, and agentic workloads, that state can end up in persistent storage. That raises another question: who has access?

Your AI infrastructure doesn't need another rip-and-replace project.
Tensormesh Platform works across Kubernetes, accelerators, storage, and inference engines, so teams can build on the infrastructure they already have.

How much of your inference workload is 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 new?
Tensormesh's #KVcache Hit Rate shows how often cached state is reused instead of recomputed, giving teams visibility into how much repeated work their models are doing.
