What the haters overlook in the debate over Florida’s Amendment 3 is that property taxes don’t just affect property owners. They affect renters, too.
When landlords face rising property taxes, those costs eventually get passed along to tenants through higher rents.
Reducing the annual assessment increase cap on non-homestead properties from 10% to 5% helps slow the growth of those expenses.
That doesn’t guarantee lower rents, but it can ease one source of upward pressure on housing costs.
And when households and businesses have more disposable income, there’s more opportunity for that money to circulate within local communities.
This is why property tax policy matters to everyone!

Just wrote a letter to @GovRonDeSantis to get rid of FL property taxes.
Owning something means that it is yours & nobody can take it from you.
Florida should set the example - that when you buy land in Florida, it belongs to you, plain and simple! 👏👏

The homestead exemption would go from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028.
Non-homestead assessment growth drops from 10% to 5%. It needs 60% to pass.
Cities and counties could raise millage rates to make up for it. How are you voting?
