Apple has announced the upgraded iPad mini 8, the first small Apple tablet with an OLED display, as part of the company's "Pro and Tell" event.
The update is huge but also comes with a $100 price increase, meaning the new iPad mini starts at $699, or $58.25 per month for 12 months. Fortunately, Apple also increased the trade-in value for older iPads.
It's not a massive increase — $20 more than previous rates at most — but it might help take some of the sting away from the new price tag.

Olivia Wilde’s latest directorial effort hits uncomfortably close to home. A24's R-rated relationship dramedy "The Invite" — which stars Seth Rogen and Wilde as a married couple on the brink of collapse when their much cooler (not to mention smokin' hot) neighbors pay a visit — has officially made its streaming debut on HBO Max. Part situational comedy and part cringe-inducing relationship thriller, it turns a casual evening of wine and neighborly conversation into a gauntlet of awkwardness and marital dysfunction that will crack you up before tearing your heart out.
I saw "The Invite" in theaters to see if it really was as great as all my friends said it was, and I'm happy to say that it does live up to the hype. I've been a huge fan of Olivia Wilde's movies since the phenomenal coming-of-age comedy "Booksmart," so when I saw her third directorial effort (and easily her best yet) just landed on HBO Max, it was the perfect excuse to yap about it.
"The Invite" is a remake of the 2020 Spanish comedy "The People Upstairs," which was such a hit that it spawned adaptations in several countries, including Russia, South Korea and Italy. Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s screenplay is sharp and refreshingly honest despite working from a pretty firmly established blueprint.
Now that it's on HBO Max, "The Invite" deserves a spot on your watchlist if you're looking for a sharp but substantial dramedy to watch. Not sold yet? Here's everything you need to know about why "The Invite" should make your next movie night.

To mark the 25th anniversary of Steve Jobs unveiling the first iPod on October 23, 2001, Apple slipped a brilliant, nostalgic easter egg onto its website.
Instead of serving a generic "Page Not Found" screen, the web version of Apple Music now hosts a fully interactive, functional replica of the original 2001 monochrome breakthrough, complete with its iconic mechanical scroll wheel.
It makes for a fun slice of early-noughties nostalgia, but it also highlights just how far hardware has drifted from doing one thing beautifully.

The iPhone Duo has now been released, and it looks like early adopters are having to deal with some teething problems. As lucky as they might have felt to snag the sought-after foldable on release day, a bunch of people have reported their screens are cracking — a problem now dubbed "crackgate."
As it always does with new phones, iFixit got hold of the iPhone Duo and took it apart to see how everything works — and whether it's actually repairable or not. That teardown seems to have been very enlightening, revealing some secrets of the hidden hinge, factors that may be behind crackgate, and just how well that phone stands up to dust.
It's also the most repairable foldable phone to date, though other foldable phone makers haven't left the bar particularly high.
Days after the first reports about iPhone Duo cracked inner screens, Apple has finally sent out an official response regarding the issue.

The Fitbit Charge 6 is one of the fitness trackers I've recommended the most over the past three years. Originally launched in 2023, a replacement has been long overdue, and for a while, I had my doubts we'd ever get one.
After all, when Google acquired Fitbit in 2021, it wasn't crystal clear what the tech giant's plans were for the brand. Would the Fitbit name live on, or would the best bits of Fitbit be chopped up for parts and fed to the more advanced Pixel Watch line?
Now we have our answer. The Fitbit line truly lives on with the launch of the 2026 Fitbit Edge, which I've been wearing for the past ten days.
A worthy replacement for the Fitbit Charge 6, the Fitbit Edge is better than its predecessor in nearly every way. Moreover, the Fitbit Edge feels like just the right amount of fitness tracker for most folks, which is why I highly recommend it.

Apple has just given its smallest tablet a giant upgrade.
As posted in the Apple Newsroom, the new iPad mini swaps the old 8.3-inch LCD for a larger 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel. As a result, the tablet is thinner and lighter. Another design upgrade is IP67 water and dust resistance. The iPad mini 8 is also powered by the A20 Pro chip, which should make it the fastest iPad mini yet.
Here's everything we know about the new iPad mini.

I never deemed it possible, but AI’s ability to predict extreme weather conditions has actually morphed from a fantasy into a reality.
Tools such as Google DeepMind’s GraphCast, Huawei’s Pangu-Weather and ECMWF’s AIFS have emerged—by running on decades of historical weather and atmospheric data, they all rely on pattern recognition to be as fast and efficient as possible when generating global forecasts. Even organizations such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) have utilized AI weather systems to keep track of large-scale environmental events.
The emergence of spatial AI is doing even more in that regard, as it's already helping US cities predict and prepare for floods, wildfires and urgent infrastructure failures before a disaster strikes.
Hantz Févry, CEO of Geolava, which is a technology lab developing AI models for the physical world, answered some questions about how spatial AI works when predicting extreme weather events. He also provided proof of its usefulness, as it’s already assisted the people of Florida in a major way.
