Some things we’ve learned in court about Galloway’s accuser & UBC:
1. UBC profs gave her a degree w/o a thesis
2. UBC gave her $30k in bursary funds after her “graduation”
3. AB demanded $3 million from UBC (public has no idea if any settlement was given)
4. She claimed a man vying for a UBC job assaulted her, then UBC profs tanked his interview scores so he wouldn’t get the job
5. She claimed UBC “head of security” told her Galloway was a “serial predator”; the man in question was not head of security and says he has no recollection of ever saying that
6. She told UBC staff that a CBC legal team vetted her allegations, found them “damning” and wanted to feature her story in a documentary; UBC profs shared this info at a faculty meeting as though it were true; the CBC journalist AB spoke to denied all of it

New York state's Nassau County banned males from female sports but state Attorney General Letitia James sued and the ban has been overturned by the courts.
Women and girls will not stop fighting for our rights to our OWN sports and spaces.
We won our lawsuit against @NassauExec over his unlawful transgender athlete ban.
Transgender athletes have the right to play on the court or field like everyone else.
As long as I am attorney general, no New Yorker will be shut out of public life because of who they are.

Alberta has introduced Bill 39 to refine the Compassionate Intervention Act, which allows involuntary treatment for people with severe addiction who pose a danger to themselves or others.
The amendments, set to support a spring 2027 start, prioritize applications by risk and capacity, add psychiatric nurses as applicants, and clarify processes without expanding the grounds for involuntary treatment.
Temporary and permanent treatment sites are being prepared.

Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault. I'm shocked because I was certain he would get away with his crimes.
The fact that Brand is a rapist was an open secret on the British comedy circuit. A friend of mine knows one of his victims.
One of the things I learned over the last few years is how many people in the entertainment industry are good, decent people and how many are compromised by their own desire for power, money and clicks.
Francis and I shared what we knew about Brand with people who were thinking of working with him and many of them immediately recognised we were telling the truth and stopped any association with him. Others, not so much.
This is even more true of his former employers like Channel 4 and the BBC. I am not saying everyone at those organisations knew but many people definitely did and they not only didn't say anything, some of them actively protected him.
I hope the verdict today brings closure and peace to his victims and serves as a reminder to powerful people who abuse their position to take advantage of others that they won't get away with it forever.
