As revealed by @two5foursports , Shujaa players are reluctant to sign contracts that will bar them from playing for their clubs.
πΈMost players tell me some of them depend on the clubs beyond money aspect. Some are sponsored to study, given jobs, given houses etc.
πΈThe clubs with the big number of players can comfortably pay more than the union to have the players at their clubs, so who will remain in the national team?
Guys I have spoken to say there needs to be an understanding to this matter.
πΈKRU should not come up with something that has never been done before, rather they should get buy in from clubs to understand the importance of releasing players to the national team in a timely manner when needed and in between assignments.
πΈAlso, players have already signed contracts with their clubs.

Kenya national rugby sevens side Shujaa players have reportedly declined to sign new contracts with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) for the 2026/27 season.
The reported disagreement centres on a clause in the proposed contracts that would bar players from featuring in any 15-a-side rugby competition or tournament for the duration of the agreement.
The proposed restriction has reportedly emerged as the sticking point in negotiations, with the players unwilling to commit to an agreement that limits their participation in the 15s game competition.
