The Shroud of Turin is very likely a true image of Jesus Christ, argues Fr. Andrew Dalton @othoniainc. Using forensic science to support the Gospel accounts, Fr. Dalton explained to UATX students how the Shroud bears clear signs of Christ's death and resurrection, even down to marks left by the instruments of the Passion. Fr. Andrew Dalton, a theology professor at the Regina Apostolorum in Rome, was invited by the campus Catholic association to visit UATX on October 16th.

“The traditions and the rituals and the laws and the practices that have sustained us for 3,000 years are kind of now optional in the United States.” Commentator Shabbos Kestenbaum (@ShabbosK) on how America’s religious freedom became a double-edged sword for Jewish tradition. In conversation with a UATX student from the Austin Union (@austin_union).
Should a free society tolerate the intolerant? Can American Jews stay Jewish in a country that never forces them to choose? Why hasn't Holocaust education reduced antisemitism? I have a new Substack up, but not the usual opinionated spitballing. It is the exam review outline I wrote for my students at @uaustinorg, summarizing the origin stories of the American colonies. Let me know of any errors you see! jackhenneman.substack.com/p/…

@DavidChaimovitz put in $10,000 of his own money and co-founded Setna, now an aviation parts and repair company worth roughly $2 billion. In conversation with @AaronWebman, he told UATX students to look past the fashionable paths and consider old-school industry, where hard work and competence still set you apart.

This is truly one of the most exciting things happening in the legal profession. I wish others states in the Midwest were doing this same thing. We need more of this.

Former US Senator Phil Gramm came to UATX to talk about AI and the economy. He ended with a confession: "If I could change anything about my life, I would have more children." Asked about falling birth rates, Gramm said government programs won't fix them. "People have children when they're confident about the future." The answer to this existential problem is more freedom, more opportunity and more prosperity. His closing advice to students: "Don't underestimate the value of having people you are tied to. The family is very important. Don't miss it."
