Happy National Bird Day! The spruce grouse can be found in the northern forests of the Eastern Region. This bird has some fun folk names including fool hen, swamp partridge, and spotted grouse. Another name is mus-ko-de'-se based on the Chippewa name for this bird.

Staying well hydrated in the winter is equally important to staying hydrated during the summer months. It's easier to forget to drink water or non-caffeinated beverages in the winter but necessary to feel your best, especially when out recreating in the Superior NF!
