For over a year, I’ve been building CoverKit. What started as a small replacement for an abandoned plugin slowly turned into something much bigger: a flexible image creation system for WordPress publishing workflows. At least in theory. 😄 Now I’m opening early access for the first time. If you publish with WordPress and creating images is part of your process, CoverKit might be exactly what you’ve been missing. coverkit.com

On my way to #PressConf with no real idea what to expect, which might be part of the fun. Looking forward to catching up with old friends, meeting new people, and talking about CoverKit.

Thanks for the mention @remkusdevries 🙌
What a week. WPZOOM has adopted WPBruiser, CaptainCore Helper adds breached-password checks, and SnapShots saves a WordPress development site so you can restore it in one click. This, and much more in this week’s Within WordPress: withinwp.com/newsletter/wp-7…

AI helped me finally polish SnapShot, and I’ve just released v3.0.0 🎉 It lets you create states (“snapshots”) of your WordPress site and restore them with one click. It’s not a full backup solution, but backups shouldn’t be a plugin in the first place. snapshots.everpress.co/

I’ve used Snapshot every day since I released the first version six years ago. It’s one of those plugins I originally built for myself and still rely on constantly.

I have a lot of respect for John and what he built with WP Crontrol, but I’m not convinced this is a good move. I noticed the advertising immediately, and giving a utility plugin its own top-level admin menu feels unnecessary and intrusive. 🙁
Last week, my company @AwesomeMotive acquired a popular free WordPress plugin WP Crontrol. My primary goal was to give this incredibly useful plugin a good home because we use it ourselves, and I have a lot of respect for John Blackbourn (original creator). WP Crontrol will remain free forever. As part of our commitment, in today's release, we just added all the previously Pro features in the Free version including Cron Logs, Cron Alerts, and newly added Cron AI. wordpress.org/plugins/wp-cro… Yes all users will now get all the Pro features for free. Thank you for your trust and continued support 🙏🏻

We already have a solution: WordPress Playground and the community. I built something for @BuildWithOllie a while ago that could move the needle here (not public yet, sorry!), but it would require all the big hosting companies to follow suit: Host a free instance of Playground - include your hosting-specific plugins for upsells if you like, but no account, no payment plan. Give your hosted instance an MCP and make it a convention across the web - mcp.hostingcompany.com Add these to the app directories for Claude and OpenAI. Wait until the next training season and see the results yourself. Many hosting companies have built incredible trust on the web over decades; they all offer WP hosting, and it's gonna be impossible for AI to ignore once you remove the friction to get started. Bonus points if you include an HTML-to-blocks converter in your Playground instances and handle it on the fly - Claude sends HTML, WP converts, and sends a preview link back. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
When you ask an agent for a website and don't mention a platform, how often does it choose WordPress? I tested 7 popular agents across nearly 300 runs. 0%. Not a single site. But most of them know it's a fit: asked afterwards, 50–74% named WordPress as a good choice.

We're lining up sponsors for #pressconfeu in Barcelona this October (27th). If you sell to WordPress - hosting, plugins, agencies, tools, whatever - this is the room you need to be in. It's founders, product people, hosts, and agency owners. Off the record. No recordings. The kind of conversations people actually have when they're not performing for a stage camera. Packages start from $3,500 and are very limited / require alignment approval. It puts you in front of the best people in the industry and also gets you tickets for your team are part of the deal. I'm not going to paste the whole menu here - it's all on the site. If you've sponsored before in the US, same vibe, different city. If you've never looked at it, the page explains what you get and there's an application form. pressconf.events/sponsor/ If you're not sure which tier fits, apply anyway or message me or @raquel__karina . Happy to point you at the right slot.

I’m going to #PressConf in October because I was told to do so. Looking forward to the next conference after the summer break ✌️
🚨News alert: the #PressConf fam is growing 🫶 We’re beyond excited to let you know we’re meeting this autumn in Barcelona, Spain! Our very first PressConf Europe edition will take place on October 27-30, 2026. “Europe has held a special place in my heart for a long time, and so has its WordPress community worldwide. PressConf is one of the most meaningful things I’ve created for this ecosystem, and bringing it to Europe feels like a beautiful way to give some of that love back. It’s a space built for the kind of candid, unrecorded conversations and meaningful connections that can shift ideas, relationships, and what comes next. I cannot wait to see this event unfold.”- @raquel__karina Stay tuned, more great news to come 🗞️ 🗞️

I know the top reasons people LOVE your plugin or hate it. It's not opinion, I did the research. 3,400+ reviews across 77 plugins. One thing users never praise or complain about? Missing features. Here's what actually drives 1️⃣⭐and 5️⃣⭐ reviews: rootsandfruit.com/articles/c…

This game is a humorous and accurate look at the reality of running a plugin business by @daniel_iser of @wppopupmaker. The best bit is the support tickets that pop up in the bottom right 😂 Get on the leaderboard - but the ultimate goal is to be acquired by Epic Motive 🦾 To play, click "Write code" until things start happening. After a while, your plugin business runs without you. pressword.games/s/rKCyGJm?ut…

I like when my agent automatically update its knowledge when I change certain things throughout the project. I've switched OpenGraph defaults to 675px and the change is now across code, files and docs 💪

Plugin count is not a performance metric. One plugin might barely participate in a request. Another might hook early, load assets everywhere, query the database globally, inflate autoload, and trigger background API calls. Both count as “one plugin.” The real question is not how many plugins you have. The real question is what work they add, when they add it, and where that work runs. Don’t try this at home, kids! Having 10.000 plugins running on your WordPress site is not a good idea. It was just to prove my point why plugin count alone doesn’t matter.
For the 1st time, I saw a WordPress site with 10,000 plugins and it performed better than one with just 2 plugins. Turns out plugin count isn't a performance problem as @xaver_ demonstrated at our Salzburg meetup. Got questions? Ask him @xaver_
