★★★★★ "What a thoroughly wonderful sophomore feature from the British director @BASharrock – witty, poignant, marvellously composed and shot, moving and even weirdly gripping." theguardian.com/film/2020/se…

This indie film industry is FULL of wealth and privilege, they are the only people who are able to do this full time without another job. It is quite frankly appalling that we allow so much talent, and with it the cultural value of their stories, to be pushed out.

The Filmhouse is not a relic of the golden film days, it’s the most important cinema in Edinburgh and it was shockingly allowed to fall into the hands of administrators - it must be saved! #SaveTheFilmhouse

I've just made film about Mussolini. This is Iranian Fascism. Regime is like the blackshirts.
Shame on it for its misogyny. It continues to wreck one of the world's greatest countries.

This means three attempts at keeping it as a cinema have now failed and clearly not for a lack of interested parties. It’s baffling that the future of the Filmhouse seems to now be a mere financial equation.

The thought has crossed my mind. The woeful current crop of councillors seem far more interested in trees and cycle lanes than sustaining the city’s cultural treasures.
£36million to be spent on tarting up swanky George St?
That would pay for a state of the art renovation of @LeithTheatre plus save Edinburgh's @Filmhouse

I realise there are mixed views on this, but I think Edinburgh should fight tooth & nail to ensure this remains a home for cinema. Historic picture houses have been revived & rejuvenated across Scotland in modern times. It would be a tragedy if Edinburgh cannot do the same.
NEW: Edinburgh’s landmark @filmhouse building has gone on sale, marketed as a “unique leisure-development opportunity.”
Sales brochure: “We believe the property would be suited to a number of alternative uses, subject to obtaining the necessary consents.”
