A big year for beavers 🦫
From supporting the first wild beaver release in England to expanding our education programme.
These steps bring us closer to restoring Britain's beaver population.
Thank you to all our supporters, we couldn’t do this without you
Calling all young poets! 📣
Our children’s poetry competition – Words of the Wetlands – is launching Sunday 1st November.
The competition closes on the 31st of December, or when we reach 10,000 entries, whichever comes first.
Winning prizes include a workshop with author and former children’s laureate Joseph Coelho, book bundles, book vouchers and the chance to be featured by Beaver Trust!
To find out more about the competition, including how to write an acrostic poem, visit:

Bringing beavers to Westminster 🦫📢
Yesterday, our influencing team joined partner environmental organisations at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Environment’s Wildlife on the Edge: Parliamentary Showcase.
We’re encouraging parliamentarians to raise the profile of beavers and support the policies needed for people and wildlife to thrive alongside them.
Restoring missing species means rebuilding the natural processes that sustain healthy, resilient landscapes. 🌿

From a roadside rescue to release 🦫
Since 2023, we have carried out 19 translocations onto @ForestyLS land, and release sites are always carefully selected to offer good habitat for the beavers and the lowest potential for conflict.

As Britain’s beaver population grows, we anticipate that more beavers may require rescue, rehabilitation and re-release support. That’s why we're developing clear guidance and protocols covering the rescue, temporary holding, rehabilitation and re-release of beavers.
