This page has some interesting quotes on the madness of the BBC's proposed closure of their superb archive channel Radio 4 Extra, and a link to a petition. It also has a slightly odd picture of me, but don't hold that against it:

A very happy birthday to @clivemerrison who to me will always be *the* Sherlock Holmes.
Anyone in hansom cab distance of the wonderful city of York might like to know that Watson: The Final Problem starring the equally wonderful Tim Marriott will be at the Friargate Theatre for a one-night performance on Saturday 12th September.

I've just heard the sad news that Enyd Williams, the prolific and much-loved BBC radio drama producer-director has died.
I worked with Enyd for many years on projects great and small. Happy, and as she herself once said, golden times.
On BBC Radio 4 Extra today at 11am and 5pm, and tomorrow at 1am, a welcome and unexpected (they never tell me about these things) repeat of my Saturday Night Theatre play from (good grief) 1982, A Magician Amongst the Spirits, about the life and many deaths of Harry Houdini.
Congratulations and thanks to @timmarriott_ for a splendid and sold out performance of Watson: The Final Problem at Chiswick's excellent Tabard Theatre yesterday.
An additional show has been added on Sunday 8th October, for which tickets are selling fast.

A very happy birthday to a great Sherlock Holmes: many happy returns, @CliveMerrison !
Today, May 16th, is the official publication day for my and Tim Marriott's one-man play Watson: The Final Problem. It also marks the release of the performance rights, both amateur and professional. Here's a link: amzn.to/3H0aKMZ . Thanks for reading.
Today, BBC Radio 4 Extra begins a starry eight-part serial of Barbara Taylor Bradford's The Women in his Life, the first of her epic family sagas to be released for radio.
Ep one is at 6am, 11am and 5pm, and it continues daily except for the weekends.

When I get up and leave the family circle
and steal into the world that's yet to be,
what kind of Christmasses shall I fashion
in place of those which once were made for me?
Those lines have haunted me since my school days. @rrfeathers if you see this, please get in touch.
Is anyone else using @Plusnet to access Usenet newsgroups? Both yesterday and today it's been very patchy: short intervals where all was OK and much longer ones with no connection. Currently (7.23 pm on Sunday 24th November) it's down: but is it just me? Thanks.
I've just heard the sad news that Timothy West has died; he was 90. I worked with him several times and it was always a pleasure: he was a gentleman and a true professional. Sincere condolences to his wife Prunella Scales and all the family.
I have to confess to being quietly pleased by this: the Telegraph newspaper's ranking of the best Sherlock Holmes pastiches in every medium. Billy Wilder's The Private Life gets the top slot but the entry at number two came as a surprise.

A very happy birthday to @clivemerrison. To me, he will always be *the* Sherlock Holmes.
I've just heard the news of David Stuart Davies' death. We'd been friends since the earliest days of the BBC complete canon project when I set up a studio visit for him, and he was an enthusiastic supporter and champion of the show. Sincere condolences to Kathryn.
Good wishes and good fortune to @Guv47 Tim Marriott who opens this evening in Watson: The Final Problem at the 59E59 theatre in New York as part of the prestigious Brits Off Broadway festival. Break a leg! Shatter a shoulder! 59e59.org/shows/show-detail/…
