Sending $1 through a traditional payment platform and sending $1 in a dollar-backed stablecoin are economically equivalent transactions. Yet Illinois’ Digital Asset Tax taxes only one of them.
Yesterday, @DigitalChamber and @ILBlockchainIBA filed a motion for summary judgment against this discriminatory tax. The motion shows it violates the Illinois Constitution, the U.S. Constitution, and the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act, and asks the court to permanently block its enforcement.
Thank you to Angela Papalaskaris, @Teresagoody, @AndoniOlta, and Tristyn Meyer of @BellementisPLLC for their work in bringing this motion forward. Read more: digitalchamber.org/wp-conten…

1/ The SEC is taking an important step toward modernizing transfer agent rules. The details matter. Yesterday, we submitted our comment letter on @SECGov’s proposed transfer agent rules. Here’s what we recommended 🧵
5/ Our key recommendations include that @SECGov should:
- Confirm in the final rule that DLT may serve as the official master securityholder file and define “exclusive control.”
- Preserve issuer and transfer agent choice among same-issue structures, including lead/sub-transfer agent and co-equal arrangements, with responsibilities allocated by function rather than blanket liability for every participant.
- Decline to adopt the proposed new gatekeeping obligation or, instead, adopt an actual-knowledge standard without an independent duty of inquiry.
6/ Thank you to every member who contributed. We look forward to continuing to work with the SEC. Full letter: sec.gov/comments/S7-2026-30/…

Congratulations to our member @tZERO ! Illustrative of how advanced the tokenization landscape is becoming - largely thanks to @tzero's leadership.
@Alan_Konevsky @SavinoVaness
A defining moment for @tZERO.
We've announced a proposed transaction with FG Imperii Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: FGII) to become a publicly traded company. tZERO is the original innovator in tokenization infrastructure. With our reset and refocus of the company over the last year, we've been building the regulated technology, infrastructure and market connectivity to power a tokenized financial system. Today, that vision takes a significant step forward.
“We have talked about the next phase of tZERO’s evolution requiring a more independent footprint. This transaction delivers that objective, unlocks growth paths and strengthens our ability to scale market infrastructure required for an increasingly tokenized financial system,” said @Alan_Konevsky, Chief Executive Officer of tZERO.
Expected ticker: TZRO. As previously mentioned, tZERO will also explore pathways for onchain trading, custody and utility utilization alongside its exchange listing.

Equity perpetuals are here: Americans can now trade perpetual futures on individual stocks listed on U.S. exchanges for the first time.
The @CFTC deemed the contracts approved as security futures, which the CFTC and @SECGov regulate jointly. U.S. investors get the protections of both agencies, the oversight Congress intended when it created a dedicated regime for security futures products.
In our August comment letter, we made the case that security futures treatment is the best path for these markets to flourish. Both CFTC- and SEC-regulated exchanges can list security futures, so venues primarily overseen by either agency can compete to offer this new class of product. That competition will improve outcomes for investors.
Equity perpetuals expand the tools that market participants can use to manage risk and take positions on securities in a single contract that never expires. We commend the staff of both agencies for this milestone in our derivatives markets.
Today, equity perps can begin trading for the first time on @CFTC registered exchanges.
This move reflects my commitment to ensuring that America’s markets remain the most innovative, liquid, and well-regulated in the world. Instead of being forced to turn to offshore, unregulated venues to access equity perpetual futures, Americans may now access equity perps on CFTC-regulated markets subject to robust safeguards.
I appreciate the continued partnership of @SECGov and @SECPaulSAtkins as we work to further harmonize our agencies' regulatory initiatives.
