Can’t quite believe that I’m on a TV documentary tonight about autistic women - talking about the importance of diagnosis and providing early support. Watch ‘Christine McGuinness: Unmasking My Autism’ on @BBCOne at 9pm UK tonight or on iPlayer at bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…

I’m really excited to launch my professional website. It has a stack of research papers I’ve authored, plus info on my private autism assessments too. Head to EmmaColvert.com to check it out, or share it if you know someone who might benefit from finding out more…

Celebrating on Doily. It’s also Goldie’s birthday and my residents definitely prefer her party to my outdoor affair.

It’s International #OCDawarenessweek, which is a great time to talk about how OCD is totally misunderstood. It‘s NOT about being fussy or tidy and liking things neat and at right angles. You can’t be ‘a bit OCD’.

OCD isn’t just about the ‘obsessive’, it’s about the ‘compulsive’ too. It’s about intrusive thoughts, magical thinking, scrupulosity, anxiety, fear, overwhelming responsibility, shame and lots more. It can be all encompassing, enveloping and tangled around your whole life.

Don’t believe what you see in the movies or what society incorrectly assumes to be OCD. Chances are it isn’t that at all. There is help out there. Talking about your OCD is an incredible first step, and therapy can help so much. Much love to all in the OCD family 💚

It seems some folk found my last thread about ‘mental health in a lockdown’ useful - so here’s another one! Hopefully it might help you feel a little less anxious and a little less alone as we hit the Easter holiday weekend...

Just be aware of this behaviour - and if you can’t stop hitting that news app, sometimes it’s as simple as moving it on your phone. Add in a few extra steps to get to it and you might find yourself seeking it less. Yes, we humans really are that lazy!

You’re Doing Great Sweetie We *can* do this. We can get through this strange time of isolation - alone, but also together. We just need to take it easy on ourselves and allow time for our minds to catch up with the unprecedented events unfolding around us. Stay safe ❤️
