6ix9ine figured out something about rap that most artists didn't: Attention > Mystery.
Everyone talks about 6ix9ine's controversies, but almost nobody talks about the strategy that made him one of the biggest rappers in the world. While other rappers tried to stay mysterious, 6ix9ine embraced interviews, livestreams, internet culture, and viral content to stay in front of fans 24/7. Looking back, he may have helped pioneer the creator-era blueprint that many artists follow today. Do you think 6ix9ine was ahead of his time?

Lil Durk didn't fall off. The internet just got bored. That's the difference.

21 Savage watching Arsenal finally win the Premier League after YEARS of getting clowned for being British is actually legendary 😭 Whole time one of Atlanta’s biggest rappers was stressing over Arsenal title races during the 2016 trap era 💀

Sauce Walka says going viral in 2008 felt completely different 🤯 Back when 50K–80K views was considered HUGE, he was already building a cult following online and influencing artists like XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd, Lil Uzi Vert & NBA YoungBoy 👀🔥

This Old A$AP ROCKY Clip Is Still HILARIOUS 🤣 & we added the context behind the viral clip. Rocky was just trying to explain how he met and got cool with CASANOVA in Rikers Island when they were both teenagers. #ElixirUGM | Host: @IanDuffyy #ASAPRocky
