Democrats won the House. Now a petition wants their own leader kept away from the Speaker's chair.
More than 666,000 people have signed a Changeorg petition opposing Hakeem Jeffries, Anadolu reported Friday. Launched in September, it urges Democrats to reject him in January and hold a competitive contest.
The petition challenges his donor record and establishment credentials.

Los Angeles just traded Karen Bass for a Democratic Socialist.
NBC News projects Nithya Raman will be the next mayor. Bass conceded Thursday. Raman belongs to the Democratic Socialists of America, and its Los Angeles chapter endorsed her.
New York already has Mayor Zohran Mamdani. America's two largest cities will now be led by democratic socialists.
Conservatives should stop treating that label as campaign decoration. Ask the practical questions: how much government, whose property, which taxes, and who pays?
Blue America's answer to disappointment is another turn left. Keep the receipts.

Nevada voters just cut the brake lines. Joe Lombardo vetoed 162 bills across two sessions, a state record, to stop what he called legislation that "expands government unnecessarily." Aaron Ford beat him, and NPR reports Ford has pledged to bring back bills Lombardo killed: caps on how many homes large corporations can buy and state power to adopt Medicaid negotiated drug prices. Democrats are set to hold every statewide office for the first time since 1962. Ford ran on affordability. His fix is more Carson City. Capping who may buy a house builds exactly zero houses. Enjoy the experiment, Nevada.

Cheating by using illegal immigrants as voters is a sin that cannot go unpunished. The rest of the world fell behind America because America stood for it's citizens. Citizens voted for President Trump to bring back law and order. Republicans took their biggest losses in half a century Tuesday, per the Washington Post. Florida held.
Byron Donalds beat David Jolly 50.02% to 48.71%, about 108,000 votes, and becomes Florida's first Black governor, per AP. Remember that the next time someone calls conservatism a club for one kind of person. Donalds thanked Jesus first, told Trump "we are still red," and promised Florida's children will "belong to their parents and not to the government."
Democrats nominated a former Republican congressman and still lost. Blue waves need something to wash away. Florida built on rock.

Mississippi just became the midterm's nightmare map.
Trump carried it by 22 points in 2024. Democrats have not won a Senate seat there since 1982. With about 96% counted Thursday, Democrat Scott Colom leads GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith by 1,138 votes, per the Associated Press. Still uncalled.
Colom, a district attorney, ran on cost of living and health care. Keep blaming stickers and consultants. When Magnolia country has a Republican senator trailing by a thousand ballots, that is a kitchen-table revolt. Your safe-seat spreadsheet cannot cast a vote.
