x402 is a protocol proposed by @coinbase that brings payments directly into HTTP, the language of the web.
When an API or service returns a 402 Payment Required response, an agent or app can automatically send a cryptographic payment before accessing the resource.
No OAuth or subscriptions. Just verifiable, per-request transactions. It is built on the unused HTTP 402 status code, now reimagined for the agent economy.
In LazAI, x402 acts as the payment handshake layer that enables direct agent-to-service payments.
LazAI extends it with attribution, distribution, and multi-chain settlement so value flows where it should.
