There exists a furious effort to deny that this is happening at all.

"Windows hit at synagogue" is perhaps the least urgent and most passive way possible to describe yet another racist attack on Jews during a historic wave of bigotry.

“Americans will head to the polls November 3rd. CBC News will have that campaign and the election results covered across all of its platforms on election night.” Is this a good function of a Canadian public broadcaster? Midterms will be covered ad nauseam by CNN, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, …etc etc.

The denial you need to perform when you realize you have been acting as a useful (and unpaid) idiot for a hateful, violent, and racist foreign regime:
Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.” I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far. Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings. I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country). Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists. cbc.ca/news/investigates/ira…

The BBC has agreed to pay £400,000 to an award-winning Jewish documentary-maker who alleged she was subjected to antisemitism and pushed out of the corporation after October 7. Lucie Kon, 57, spent 22 years at the BBC and worked on programmes including Panorama, Today, BBC Breakfast and Storyville. Films she commissioned or helped produce won an Oscar, Emmy and Bafta. Kon says her treatment changed dramatically after the Hamas attacks. She alleges colleagues described Zionists like her as “evil”, argued that Israel should be called terrorist if Hamas was, and told her to consider what had driven Hamas to carry out the massacre. When she proposed a documentary about October 7, Kon says she was told she was “too partial” to oversee it because she was Jewish. She subsequently filed a formal grievance, but a BBC investigation rejected her complaint. Kon says she was then kept away from work for months. During a restructuring, her position was made redundant and she failed to secure the similar role replacing it. She launched unfair-dismissal proceedings. The BBC has now agreed substantial compensation, reported as £400,000, without admitting liability or accepting that Kon suffered antisemitism. Kon says Jewish employees still at the corporation continue to face hostility and feel unable to identify openly as Jewish or Zionist.

Toronto police removed Brad Bradford campaign signs from the area in a Jewish Toronto neighbourhood where antizionist protesters rally every weekend. After the protest, cops put the signs back. The woman filming asks: is this not illegal?

"I've been very clear that I've said no to hate, no to antisemitism." - Mayor Chow "The genocide in Gaza impacts us all" - also Mayor Chow. Enough doublespeak. The genocide libel is why Jews are hated and harmed. Use it and you are targeting all Jews.
"I've been very clear that I've said no to hate, no to anti Semitism and I was at the vigil just few weeks ago, and which I've done so. However I do not support what the the Israeli government is doing." @OliviaChow addresses concerns of her support of Toronto's Jewish community.

CBC's Basic Burner podcast spends 30 minutes asking "What's behind the youth protests in France?" without once mention the omnipresence of Palestinian flags and keffiyehs at the riots. France is burning in the name of antizionism. CBC demures. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…

In Manhattan 🇺🇸, a Jewish man was reportedly stabbed in broad daylight while walking down the street. Security footage shows the man being followed, along with the alleged attack. Authorities are currently investigating this as a hate crime. Even on a busy NYC street, antisemitic actors move without shame.

A clear shift in rhetoric at a Montreal hate rally. 'Jews can stay in a liberated Palestine' used to be the party line. "We'll kick the Zios out" is now the chant. 90% of Israeli Jews are Zionists. This is a mob, calling for ethnic cleansing.

Over 4,000 Jews moved from France to Israel this year so far, and the number is expected to reach 5,000 by the end of the year. This is the 1st year since the fall of the Soviet Union that any country other than Russia is the origin of the most immigrants. (Source: @MakorRishon)

We will all soon know what it feels like to be Jewish. In France, they already do. It will be our just deserts for having abandoned the Jews, ignored their warnings, turned against them, and even marched alongside their oppressors. For three years, you useful idiots have been parading Palestinian flags, sporting keffiyehs, screaming “From the River to the Sea”, and recognizing a fictitious Palestinian state as a reward for Hamas’s October 7 massacre (looking at you, @EmmanuelMacron). You have boycotted the only Jewish state in the world, vilified the Jewish people’s right to self-determination (aka “Zionism”), and spread the “Gaza genocide” blood libel. Did you really think that if you fed the crocodile enough Jewish flesh, it would eventually be satiated? All you have done is embolden the monster and whet its appetite. So you were worried about “colonization”? Look around. The only thing being colonized here are our own Western cities. The Palestinian flag has become a victory banner, proudly waved amid the ruins of looted and vandalized historic buildings—a symbol of hatred for our civilization and everything it stands for. It never ends with the Jews.

TMU hired a retired judge to investigate antisemitism on campus. The judge found the school has a double standard for Jews, and failed to enforce its own code of conduct. So the same administration that commissioned the investigation hid its conclusion. nationalpost.com/opinion/joh…

You hate 7 million Jews in Israel, and most Jews outside of it, because you are a hateful racist.
I don’t hate any Jews for being Jewish. I hate Zionists, whether they are Jewish, Christian, or—yes, they exist—Muslim. There are more Christian Zionists than Jewish Zionists. How can it be antisemitic to hate Christians for their political views (which is what Zionism is)?

I wonder if Duncan Kinney will return the $34,933 donated to his legal defence fund under false pretenses from Omar Mouallem, Sandy Garossino, Euan Thomson, etc., etc.,
What the fuck man. Fundraised off lies and manipulation and did harm to journalism and community. I defended him bc I really did not think anyone could be that stupid esp a father who seemed to care about “progressive journalism”

A misleading post from @NCCM suggesting government changed its position. It has not. Here is where Canada stands: • "Antisemitism, which includes anti-Zionism" • "contemporary manifestations of antisemitism, including anti-Zionism" Both factually true and official policy.
After significant community concern and advocacy, including much engagement by many Canadians, including NCCM, the Government of Canada has clarified in a response letter that anti-Zionism is not inherently antisemitic, reaffirming Canadians’ right to engage in open, respectful, and lawful debate about Israel, its government policies, and any political ideology. In its response to NCCM on October 16th, the Minister of Public Safety reaffirmed that the Report is not intended to suggest that all criticism of Zionism or Israel is antisemitic, nor to limit or discourage lawful political expression and public debate. While this clarification is a step in the right direction, many in our community remain concerned about the IHRA definition and how it may be applied in practice to chill legitimate political speech, even though the federal government states that it is non-prescriptive guidance and does not restrict Charter-protected freedoms. Many Canadians have lost their jobs for innocuous statements critiquing Israel. We’ve taken many of these cases to court to protect their rights and have won. We will continue to advocate for the protection of civil liberties, freedom of expression, and the right of all Canadians to engage in legitimate political debate without fear of having their views unfairly characterized.
