We talked about better ways to develop positive team influencers. Instead of giving your best player the captain title, focus on intentionally developing all players into leaders who build trust, set standards, and strengthen team culture.

Reading @JpNerbun's new book and he had an absolute banger thought: Nice vs. Kind.
Nice is just saying what others want to hear to make them feel good.
Kind is telling the truth, or what they need to hear, in a way that is impactful and helps them.
Coaches: be kind not nice.

3) But the truly great understand that extreme competition is an act of love. By pushing your teammates to their limit, you are helping them find theirs.

Great podcast by @JpNerbun, @CoachNSanderson, and Betsy Butterick. Covers how WE receive feedback as coaches. Good one for building a great program - and also having the ability to precede feedback - whether asked for or not 😉.

Are we focused on the wrong goal when we talk about "safe spaces?"
Psychological safety is a condition, but the real goal is courage. As Daniel Coyle suggests, maybe we should be calling them "brave spaces".
I'm interested in creating the conditions for people to sit in vulnerability, uncertainty, and risk—the three requirements for courage. The world doesn't need more bubble wrap—it needs more courage.
Read my full article to understand why I have "No Interest in 'Safe Spaces'" and why creating the conditions for courage is the objective. Link below!
