In this episode of the Assignment Podcast, @GillianKemmerer and @JuniaDragon talk to @davidsimpatico , award-winning librettist and @MountainviewMFA alum. We had a rousing conversation about being motivated by death, modern opera, and the process of writing libretti.
Congratulations to @Candle_Face!

From Arieon Whittsey, "Still, if I am dying, I’d rather not know. I’d like to go in my sleep— suddenly, and without warning. I'd rather skip the slow days of creeping shadow, of serene instrumentals and the voices of my loved ones morphing into a whispering chorus around me."1/

From Basil McQuade, "You’ve fallen in love. A mile long stretch of beach in your favorite season. You did not want to come here. You can’t imagine yourself leaving...."

Cannot say enough good things about this program. Without it, 'The Russian Five' book wouldn't have happened. (Not to mention the two books that followed.)
So proud of our incredible alumni.
Come back and see us soon, @KeithGave and @ceyoung89.

Somehow managed to keep my big mouth shut about this since June, but I’m over the moon to publish my memoir WOMAN OF INTEREST with @HarperOneBooks which means I’ll get to be edited by @rakeshsatyal and I couldn’t be more grateful to have @mere215 in my corner & scoring K-Os.
