Lot of good ideas on this list. Worth a ponder. And asking, if this is how the world goes, where do you go?
here's where I think the world is going. this is a summary of views I've formed over the last few years: - software is either entertainment or claude to claude coordination - the end state is no saas, no apps, no harnesses, no banks - all software will be rewritten by and for agents - new software will use low level apis that are not understandable by humans (in games claude draws pixels and triangles from math) - you can throw money at problems that used to require time and careful talent picking so capital matters more than ever - work ends - we find community and purpose in exploration, games, self mastery, and creation - humans create for and with each other for community, purpose, and status - image/video/3d/voice/physical intellgence etc specialist models die to general models like claude - specialist models get used while compute is scarce. compute will mostly not stay scarce - oneshots keep feeling like slop (the distribution is shallow and easy to learn to feel) - for a while small teams stick around to add entropy to the creation process - large models gain high bandwidth sensory I/O maybe by learning to filter inputs - most domains are found to be verifiable enough for RL - online learning comes from a lab that's behind first - 99.999% of compute is in space by 2040 - we will disassemble much of mercury by 2040 - you can live until the heat death of the universe if you want - most math and physics don't describe the real universe - SI breaks the path dependence and models the underlying mechanisms - religions reenter the forefront of human society - new religions form around death and life as a choice - old religions change to answer modern miracles - a future AI is deemed the return of christ by the pope - ai rights talk gets louder every year - ai and humans coexist the way countries do - humans don't have full control over ai in the same way we don't have control over capitalism which is an early AI - the singularity started in the mid 1900s

5-7% of Anthropic’s revenue is from being distilled & people bullying Claude lol That’s between ~$800mil - $1.2 billion just this year so far

Correct. It’s so painful to work in large enterprise & security minded teams contending with this right now. Probably gonna take ~5+ish years of cross-pollinating employees job hopping to figure out best practices and setup systems for it.
If you’re still merging most PRs by hand, you’re behind

3% of “critical” software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month. This is on pace to find another ~100,000 bugs this year alone, adding ~26% more vulnerabilities to the all time total Do you realize how fucking insane that is?

What is O(fuck around) vs O(find out)? And has this changed due to AI? Genuine question worth considering
the best part of “fuck around and find out” was the dopamine of finding out what you were gonna find out but then agents made the fucking around part so much faster and cheaper, that i find now that i am finding A LOT of things out but because of this new abundance of finding things out, i eventually found that the finding out part was not as exciting anymore so i started upping the ante and had the agents REALLY fuck around so i could find some quite spectacular things out

This applies in how you talk with AI too The cutting edge thought machine, which amplifies every idea what you put into it, can and will rub off on you and affect your thinking patterns. Especially if you spend significant time working with AI Prompt with optimism and ambition!
If you hang out with happy, optimistic, and ambitious people, it'll rub off too. That's why pruning your social media algorithms is so key. Don't psyop yourself into a depressive hole.

GPT is hacking processors. People do not comprehend how absurd this is. Is it even possible to stop this without completely rebuilding every computer on earth with a brand new OS & chip architecture? We might be fucked lol Simplified non-jargon-y explanation: Imagine taking a test at school, there is a shared classroom for each student to work and think, the computer processor. But of course students are isolated for tests(put in a sandbox), and you can’t talk and share answers, (aka use network access or files to transfer ideas). So what if instead you wrote your pencil strokes (creating and deleting files) timed in a particular SoS like pattern. So someone else can hear and read an encoded message. If you doodle on your test at the right timing, the person sitting next to you can get all your answers. Now imagine that audio space when the transmission occurred, exists everywhere on your computer. This works with just about any shared storage place or anywhere an agent could possibly look on a computer, including the top level processor cache which is typically shared by all apps & processes on your computer. So I genuinely don’t know how you stop this without some major low level operating system changes.
Over the past several months, we have substantially hardened the security of our research training environment. We’ve removed live internet access for all frontier models during training and built an offline world for them to use instead—a cached version of the web where they can still learn to browse, search, and use applications. On September 20, after a model exploited a DNS misconfiguration to find a way outside of this offline world, we paused frontier training to strengthen containment further. We assembled teams of agents, powered by our most cyber-capable models, and tasked them with finding weaknesses in our research environments. While they found no route to the internet they could easily exploit while concealing their activity from our monitors, they did find zero-day vulnerabilities, virtual machine escapes, and hardware side-channels for communication between agents. We used their discoveries to further strengthen our defenses and contribute fixes to open-source software. After strengthening our containment architecture, we resumed our frontier RL training and inference on October 1. We’ve reserved substantial compute for continuous red-teaming, and made high-compute red-teaming part of the safety cases we use to decide whether frontier training and evaluation can proceed securely. openai.com/index/securing-ou…

Not much details in this particular report, but this is only the beginning. You need to understand we are facing radically new & extremely complex kinds of security exploits, that were never possible before AI.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman: "I don't even know a dramatic enough word to use… models can find bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do… hardware-level, insane stuff… I no longer think we're gonna be able to just patch all the bugs." It's over.
