🎉 MAJOR MARIJUANA VICTORY: Idaho voters soundly rejected HJR 4, state lawmakers' attempt to have their constituents forfeit their right to decide on marijuana legalization.
"HJR 4 wasn't anti-marijuana; it was anti-democracy," NORML's Deputy Director Paul Armentano said. "Idaho lawmakers know that they can no longer make a rational case for the state's prohibitive and punitive marijuana policies – policies that are out of step not only with most other states, but also with most Idahoans.
"Rather than evolve their views to align with those of their constituents, Idaho lawmakers cynically asked Idahoans to relinquish one of the most fundamental powers they have in a free society: their power to vote. Fortunately, voters rejected this authoritarian proposal."

🎉 MAJOR MARIJUANA VICTORY: Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly rejected Question 8, the prohibitionist-funded ballot measure seeking to repeal the state's voter-approved legalization law.
"There's no 'buyer's remorse' among voters when it comes to legalizing and regulating marijuana," NORML's Deputy Director Paul Armentano said. "In fact, more Massachusetts voters support legalization today than did a decade ago, and these election results prove it."

🚨Prohibitionists aren’t just fighting to prevent or repeal marijuana legalization – they’re trying to take the decision away from voters entirely.
Don't let your rights go up in smoke.

🚨 Question 8 is not about promoting the health and safety of Massachusetts residents; it is a trial balloon by a prohibitionist interest group intent upon rolling back legal cannabis markets nationwide.
Twenty-four states now regulate adult-use marijuana markets. None of these jurisdictions have ever repealed their legalization laws. Massachusetts must not be the first.

🚨 The ballot question asks Idahoans to relinquish their right to ever vote on legalization and to hand over sole authority to state lawmakers.
The message behind HJR 4 cannot be clearer. State officials don't trust voters to do their bidding on the issue of cannabis.

❌ Dozens of Massachusetts elected officials, including @SenWarren, @SenMarkey, Congresswoman @AyannaPressley, Governor @Maura_Healey, and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu have all expressed their intention to vote 'no' on Question 8. They join over 50 state lawmakers, including Massachusetts House Speaker @RonMariano and Senate President Karen Spilka, who have lined up against the initiative.
