🚨WILDFIRE CLOSURE🚨
Taconic Crest Trail, Mattison Hollow Trail, Berlin State Forest, and Taconic Ridge State Forest in Rensselaer County are CLOSED from Mattison Hollow to Berlin Mountain until further notice. 🧵⤵️
Cool autumn nights can lead to light winds & limited atmospheric mixing, so local pollution sources like chimneys, traffic, and industrial process, can build up, leading to higher levels of particulate matter. This week, brushfires in the Southern U.S. are bringing smoke into NY.
Most of the smoke stays aloft and is not as intense as wildfire smoke we’ve see from Western wildfires; however, there’s still a portion of the fine particles that settle. Western NY saw some elevated AQI last night but it will continue to improve throughout the day.
Find today's AQI forecast here: appfactory.dec.ny.gov/AQI

No family should have to worry about affording heat when the temperatures drop.
Washington Republicans may be willing to leave New Yorkers out in the cold, but your family is my fight.
Our Home Energy Assistance Program will help families pay their heating bills and keep their homes warm this winter.

Nor'easter update for NYC: coastal flooding could reach minor to locally moderate levels during high tides Thursday evening through Saturday, largely around Jamaica Bay.
Tonight's high tide could also bring minor flooding there.
🗺️ The storm is still tracking north well offshore, and the heaviest rain is forecast to stay east of NYC over southeastern New England.
For the city, that means gusty winds, weekend rain, and high-tide flooding near the shore.
💨 Gusts will build through the week: 25 to 35 mph today and Thursday, 30 to 45 mph Friday, and 30 to 40 mph Saturday. Secure loose items on balconies, rooftops, and patios, and keep your phone charged.
🌧️ Today and Thursday stay dry. Rain could start as early as late Friday evening, with a 45% to 60% chance of light to briefly moderate rain through the weekend. Totals of 0.5 to 1.25 inches are possible over two to two and a half days.
🚗 Expect some ponding on roads: slow down, allow extra time, and never drive through standing water.
🚫 If you live or travel near the water, do not drive, walk, or swim through floodwaters, including flooded roads, underpasses, and low-lying areas. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
🏖️ Rip current risk is high through Saturday.
