A person I used to work for said that integrity is the most important judgment of character. I believed him, and I still believe that, with my and Cambridge's definitions attached. With one other tie. To accept the consequences behind your actions, good or bad.

Good is obvious. But bad is the ability to pay the toll, take the fine, take the hits for when you truly screw up. I don't give a dang if you're a random person, a Paul brother, a US President, or anyone in power. You accept and take on the consequences.

I deeply respect @juliamoskin as a journalist and person. But J, this take on #privateequity's (and #venturecapital's, for that matter) investments in & acquiring regional food spaces (& food startups) is so laced with cynicism that it misses the message. nytimes.com/2026/04/14/dinin…

Big Money Is Betting on Bagels

High-quality bagels were once the sole domain of a few major cities. Investors believe they can take the breakfast staple nationwide.

There is no question that PE is not perfect (and has many flaws), but the snark around the article - and the comments, the comments! - turns the story from a well-informed one to a comical one. There's a better way to tell across the good, bad, and ugly of it all.
