【 SHUJI UTSUMI INTERVIEW 】 【 THOUGHTS ON SONIC RACING CROSSWORLDS & SERIES GROWTH 】 In the July 23rd Special Issue of Famitsu, Shuji Utsumi held a VIP interview, and was asked about the state of Sonic and lacking sales of recent games. He stated that the aim to reach major global expansion with the use of Sonic-Related Titles fell short of hopes. He went on to say that the newest title (Sonic Racing CrossWorlds) is a good game, but wished it sold a lot better. Changes to SEGA's sale capabilities are being made as a response to the divide between strong review scores for titles such as Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. He went on to say that "Sega has a culture of thinking from a physical perspective", and while they aren't abandoning that culture, they want to challenge themselves to take advantage of the digital market due to the rise of PC Gaming. Future moves to address these issues will be integration of their Eastern and Western publishing organisations and shared resources. Alongside this, the previous stated focus on influencers and creators is being pushed forward too. Ultimately, Utsumi believes that the recent wave of Sonic titles, like Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is reaching high quality, expressing satisfaction with the reception, but understands that the newest challenge is expanding to a wider audience.
