With the launch of the Midwest UAS Test Site, Indiana is uniquely positioned to develop and manufacture the drones of the future and help unleash American drone dominance.
Appreciate the partnership with @DeptofWar and @SecArmy to make Indiana a national leader in drone testing and development.
Wednesday, @SECNAV Hung Cao, many other top @DeptofWar leaders, and I attended the Northeast Indiana Defense Summit, where Hung delivered outstanding keynote remarks.
Under the leadership of @POTUS and @SecWar we have torn down bureaucratic red tape to deliver Soldier-ready products faster. There in Indiana, I was honored to announce two brand new ranges that will be part of our innovative test range concierge service (testrange.army.mil) to Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck.
Thanks to @SenatorBanks, @SenToddYoung, and @NationalGuardIN for driving this capability for the Army and for our industry partners.
Warfighting modernization at the speed of American innovation right here in Indiana.
In 1911, the Johnson brothers of Terre Haute designed, built, and flew what is recognized as the first successful monoplane in the U.S. More than a century later, an unbroken line connects their Hulman Street workshop to Indiana's latest aviation leadership as a federal drone test site based in Terre Haute.

“Americans need U.S.-flagged ships to carry goods through hostile waters, but the U.S. has allowed its Merchant Marine to dwindle to the point that it can no longer play that role…the United States must rebuild its sea power, not just its naval power.”
Congress needs to pass my SHIPS Act now to restore America’s sea power and maritime strength.

Today in Terre Haute, we officially launched the Midwest UAS Test Site of Indiana, one of only nine federally designated drone test sites in the nation.
Working with @GovBraun, I helped spearhead the effort to locate this site in our state. With our world-class research institutions, defense assets, manufacturing capabilities, and skilled workforce, Indiana is uniquely positioned to develop and manufacture the drones of the future and help unleash American drone dominance.

What does it take to prepare the next generation to lead a free society?
At the @ReaganInstitute’s recent #RISE2026 summit, Senator @SenToddYoung made the case that civic education is about more than understanding how government works – it’s about developing the character, humility, and respect needed to sustain our democracy.
Today, we celebrate the bravery and hard work of the men and women who guard our seas and protect our freedoms. Thank you all for your service to our country.
Our team attended the groundbreaking for HealthLinc’s new clinic at Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso, which will expand access to dental services and provide individualized care for Hoosiers with disabilities. Great to see this innovative approach to health care for all Hoosier patients.
Today, we recognize and honor our service members mobilized around the globe. Thank you to those deployed and their loved ones for their sacrifices to keep our nation safe.
I helped secure more than $11 million in federal funding from @USDOT modernize the port at Burns Harbor in northwest Indiana. Indiana’s location along the Great Lakes gives our state a unique advantage in moving goods, and this investment will expand shipping operations and support American commerce. Thank you to @SecDuffy for his partnership in supporting this important project.

I write in @IBJNews about how the Great Lakes states can lead the way on drone development.
The Midwest is the America’s Autonomous Heartland, where the systems that will guard our security and grow our economy will be designed, tested and built.
