Matriculated at Oxford University today. I remembered our first nights as refugees in Canada, waiting in line for beds at a shelter. My mom gripped my hand. “This is only a nightmare. When you start school, you'll dream happy things.” Thank you for letting me dream big, mom.

1, I am so moved to be marking the 40th anniversary of the Brighton bomb @StJPiccadilly. where I made the decision to bring something positive after just 2 days. It still feels extraordinary I am speaking with Pat Magee, who planted the bomb and that we have 24 years of dialogue.

Attacks on Muslims, Black people, members of other minorities, and our brave police officers, are totally unacceptable, and we stand in solidarity with all affected. As a society, we have to be better than this. We will play our full part in this effort.
